The Employment Services & Partnerships Coordinator will develop, coordinate, implement, evaluate, and maintain enhanced employment and career programing college-wide to support students, faculty, staff and external partners. This includes supporting the priorities of the employment center, as well as other engagement opportunities with stakeholders, such as (career fairs, resume and cover letter creation and review, job search tools and employment statistics).

This position will support the development, implementation, and evaluation of employer partnerships to provide enhanced internship and work-based learning opportunities. This individual will foster relationships with faculty, business/industry and community partners to promote career pathways. The goal of this position is to enhance student persistence, retention, completion, and job placement through connection to experiential learning and careers.

1. Coordinate SCC’s job placement and employment services.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations including, but not limited to, employer engagement efforts such as career fairs, networking events, industry tours, tabling opportunities, mock interviews, resume review, etc.
  • Support student placement and on-the-job learning opportunities through employer & faculty communications, placement preparation efforts, & related partnerships with workforce, community and industry partners.
  • Create connections to opportunities for work experiences and placement for current students and alumni.
  • Collects, organize, and analyze occupational, educational, and economic information for use in job placement activities.
  • Lead efforts to strengthen use of and engagement with Job Bank by users (students, employers, faculty).
  • Provide programming, resource and support for students applying for internship opportunities.
2. Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate student-centered co-curricular career and employment opportunities.
  • Review and implement policies and procedures and best practices that support placing students in meaningful and engaging employment experiences related to career interests and guided pathways.
  • Review and implement policies and procedures that support tracking students’ experiential learning experiences
  • Partner with academic departments to integrate career outcomes into program/course learning outcomes
  • Ensure the development & implementation of data collection systems, data analysis; and evaluate and monitor program performance and quality to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Work with faculty members to develop instruments that effectively measure student growth and job readiness within academic programs.
  • Ensure connection of adult learners to employment center resources in support of Title III grant goals and objectives. Increase availability and accessibility of these resources for these students.
3. Connect and engage internal and external stakeholders with employment services.
  • Serve as a designated liaison regarding internship and work-based learning opportunities between faculty and industry. Work with VP of Strategic Partnerships, faculty and regional employers to raise awareness of the value and accessibility of these experiential learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate with faculty and CTLE, campus foundations and industry partners to support and maintain relationships between SCC and regional employers
  • Manage and coordinate activities and events that create engagement with placement services across the college and connect students with potential employers for internships, work-based learning, and full-time employment.
  • Work with and solicit input from programs, departments, faculty, staff, and alumni re: internships, job shadowing, externships, full-time positions, etc. Assist with the creation and alignment of these opportunities to SCC programs.
Minimum Requirements
  • Associate’s Degree or a minimum of 2 years of experience in a related education or business field.
  • Experience with community outreach and partnership development, including business and industry partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office programs and web-based systems.
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication skills, including presenting to small and large groups.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team environment.
  • Commitment to an equitable and inclusive working environment and a demonstrated ability to work successfully with persons of diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related education or business field.
  • Experience working with underserved students, diverse populations, and adult learners; ideally in a college setting.
  • Knowledge of work-based learning systems and best practices (internships, apprenticeships, and experiential learning, etc.)
  • Experience working with student record systems and software, such as ISRSDARS, Aviso, and ImageNow.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota State and South Central College policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Two years of experience in career-services or student-affairs related position, such as admissions, counseling or advising.
