Deputy Prime Minister of Brand Strategy & Design (Creative Management)

DBC
$90k
United States, New York
May 12, 2023

In the City-State of DBC, our mission is to democratize the design process. We do this by fostering creative connections between our clients and their target audiences by using inclusion as a powerful tool. As a creative agency, we are people helping people, building a society that emphasizes autonomy, community, and responsibility. We work with global organizations that have the potential to change the world, striving to reduce the noisy world of brand marketing by encouraging direct conversations.

OUR CHARTER

The City-State of DBC was founded in 2014 with a vision to use creative solutions to address business challenges. As a black-owned, 100% remote agency, we are proud to champion diversity and inclusion in the creative field, which has historically lacked a wide range of voices. Our team members are encouraged to travel the world, exploring how different cultures communicate with each other to bring valuable insights to our work.

We serve our citizens (clients) by focusing on insight-driven brand strategy, using a toolkit to ensure we're solving business problems and not just creating art. Our clients range from global organizations, both current and future, who strive to make a meaningful impact in the world. We take pride in helping them stand out with innovative and inclusive branding and marketing solutions.

As an unconventional branding agency and consultancy, we reject corporate jargon, red tape, and stuffy environments. Instead, we value self-rule and personal ownership of choices. Our team members hold governmental titles, reflecting the areas they own and their responsibilities to our citizens. We believe that rules work best when broken, and we prioritize working for better rather than working for hours.

Our values of Ambition, Bravery, Curiosity, Conversation, and Accountability guide us in being autonomous and courageously persistent. We push boundaries, challenge pre-established beliefs in design, work, and branding, and stretch our capabilities to deliver groundbreaking solutions for our citizens. Together, we aim to create a more inclusive and equitable world through the power of creative connections.

OUR CONSTITUTION

At the City-State of DBC, our constitution represents the fundamental principles that guide our internal community and interactions with our citizens (clients). We believe in fostering an innovative culture that embraces failure, values authentic relationships, and encourages deep engagement.

Operating under the principles of our constitution requires that we recognize and celebrate the innate brilliance in each individual. We embrace imperfection, knowing that lifelong learning fuels experimentation, risk-taking, growth, and innovation. We understand that the journey is just as important as the destination and that good intentions don't override the impact of our actions. We acknowledge qualitative life experiences as valid and valuable data. Above all, we strive to bring intentionality, planfulness, care, compassion, humor, joy, and love into our work.

In commitment to these principles, our team abides by five core values that guide our work together:

Ambition: We strive for excellence in everything we do, pushing boundaries and challenging the status quo. We believe in the power of creativity to solve complex problems and aim to deliver groundbreaking solutions to our citizens.

Bravery: We face challenges head-on, embracing failure as an opportunity for growth and learning. We encourage bold thinking and calculated risks to drive innovation and lasting impact in our work.

Curiosity: We approach our work with a thirst for knowledge and a willingness to learn from our colleagues, our citizens, and the world around us. We listen actively and embrace diverse perspectives to fuel our creativity and enhance our understanding.

Conversation: We foster open and honest dialogue, valuing the importance of clear communication in building strong relationships within our team and with our citizens. We create a supportive environment where everyone's voice is heard, and ideas are shared freely.

Accountability: We take ownership of our actions and decisions, holding ourselves and each other responsible for delivering on our commitments. We work as a community, supporting one another and collaborating to achieve our shared goals.

By living these values, we aim to create an inclusive, innovative, and resilient community that empowers our team members and citizens to reach their full potential. Together, we work towards a brighter future where everyone has a seat at the table and a voice in the conversation.

HOW WE COLLABORATE

At the City-State of DBC, we're obsessed with the intricacies and interconnectedness of people, their work, and the brands they represent. As a data-driven creative agency, we channel our passion into building long-lasting partnerships, fueled by humility, care, humor, and intentionality.

We recognize the power of creativity to solve complex problems and forge meaningful connections between our citizens (clients) and their target audiences. Our team, working remotely yet always ready to show up in person when needed, strives to create innovative strategies that drive brand growth and solve business challenges.

Our collaboration with citizens spans across various levels of engagement to address their unique needs:

Through these partnerships, we help organizations achieve their goals, adapt to changing market conditions, and make a lasting impact on the world.
