Director of Diversity & Inclusion

Columbia has created a strategic plan focused on enhancing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (see Columbia’s website for the strategic plan). This role will be integral in the work to achieve the goals of the strategic plan.

Typical Duties include but are not limited to:

Psychological Safety and Accountability 

     Working with diversity champions to implement the psychological safety initiative

     Manage and administer Psychological Safety Index and certifications

     Analyze, report findings, and make recommendations to improve psychological safety

     Provide education, resources, and tools on a psychologically safe environment and the associated benefits

Workforce Diversity

     Assist in identifying and engaging pipelines and pathways for diverse candidates

     Help to create procedures and engage resources to ensure that diverse talent is developed, retained, and coached

     Provide education, resources, and tools to managers on best practices for hiring and retaining diverse talent

     Continually assess, report findings, and make recommendations to create diversity at all levels of the organization

External Change Agent

     Engage in community and industry outreach that supports and increases historically underutilized individuals and businesses in the construction industry

     Foster strategic partnerships with external partners to help drive change in the construction industry

     Assist in the development and implementation of vendor and workforce diversity goals on projects

Awareness

     Coordinate company-wide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) learning opportunities on topics such as bias, inclusion, and managing diverse teams

     Serve as a resource and partner in project proposals and pursuit of new work

     Develop and publish regular communication on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

     Drive and be an active participant of the Columbia Way (see Columbia’s website for the Columbia Way)

     Guide the DEI Committee

Standard Qualifications and Requirements

     Experience in a DEI related position

     Knowledge of DEI as a profession and familiarity with the work done in a DEI role

     Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization and external partners

     Demonstrated experience with organizational change

     Excellent verbal and written communication skills

     Excellent presentation and facilitation skills

     Strong computer skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite

     Ability to travel throughout New England to various construction job sites
