PEMEX Deer Park is a highly complex refinery located 18 miles east of Houston in Deer Park, TX. The Operations Support Engineer (OSE) is a technological development role responsible for monitoring process units to operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. You will be accountable for technical support and assurance to one or more Production Units within the PEMEX Deer Park Refinery. You will be expected to provide an opportunity to develop process technology and technical safety skills and the development of process engineering fundamentals.

 

To be successful, you should have:

·        Bachelor of Science degree required (preferred discipline Chemical Engineering).

·        1-5 years of process engineering experience in oil and gas or petrochemical industries.

·        An understanding of refinery processes and operations is preferred.

·        Familiarity with process simulation software preferred (e.g., PRO/II, UniSim, HYSYS).

·        Ability to effectively manage competing priorities.

·        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

 

As the Operations Support Engineer, you will:

  • Provide proactive technical monitoring and support to Production Units to ensure units operate safely and reliably while generating margin for the business.
  • Work closely with other Operations Support Engineers (OSEs) to provide technical support to daily operations, small projects, and margin initiatives.
  • Support other OSEs and your Production Areas during the execution of unit turnarounds.
  • Guide Operations in proposing appropriate operating targets for the process units and systems to meet established feed and product specifications.
  • Provide technical support and execute process changes via the Management of Change (MOC) process to ensure any hazards associated with design changes to process units are adequately mitigated.
  • Identify, communicate, and escalate issues to the appropriate technical and operations personnel. Assist in the evaluation of complex technical or operational problems.
  • Perform engineering analyses (e.g., process modeling, catalyst evaluation, relief design calculations, etc.) as needed.
  • Provide technical support for special operation activities (e.g., test runs, decontamination, startups, shutdowns).
  • Provide process engineering representation in PHAs and incident investigations within assigned areas.
  • Provide input and support to long-term strategic planning for process units and refinery systems.
  • Provide support to multidiscipline teams addressing cross-organizational issues and opportunities. The Operations Support Engineer serves as process support to operations in one or more Production Units. The role interfaces with multiple technologies across the refinery.  The role will work in multi-disciplinary teams and will be required to manage conflicting priorities effectively through multiple Production Areas and teams.  This role provides the opportunity to gain a technical breadth in process support to operations, technical safety, and unit optimization.
