What You’ll Be Doing

As a Construction Project Accountant with Emmerson Construction, you will be primarily responsible for preparing cost projections/forecasts, analyzing project budgets, and monitoring the financial status of projects.

Additionally, your tasks will include, but not be limited to:

  • Working with Project Managers to ensure project SOV/budgets are current and sufficient to cover projected costs and commitments for accurate financial reporting
  • Processing full cycle subcontractor accounts payable, including managing the draw periods, monthly billing integration, and the Textura payable system
  • Creating initial project SOV in Sage per the project budget and owner contract
  • Reviewing and approving all commitments, owner change orders, and budget modifications in Procore
  • Coordinating and generating monthly project pay application packages with field teams in Textura, including managing all subcontractor and vendor invoices and acquiring all required documentation
  • Ensuring all billings and invoices are posted in Sage (once approved)
  • Monitoring bank accounts daily for activity and reconciling accounts monthly
  • Ensuring subcontractor/supplier payments are entered into Sage as payments are made monthly
  • Coordinating and assisting field teams with project close out
  • Assisting subcontractors with Textura system, SOV’s, billings, change orders, and supplier set up
  • Preparing required general ledger entries and correlating account reconciliations
  • Performing month-end closings and preparing financial documents
  • Setting up billing SOVs in Textura

What You’ll Need to Perform the Role

You’ll use the following to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and at least five (5) years of progressive responsible financial/accounting roles, and three (3) years in construction project accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill, and abilities have been attained
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and accounting functions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Experience using, Sage 300 CRE, Procore and/or Textura preferred

Hiring Range

Salary of $75K to $95K on an annualized basis, depending on qualifications.

The pay range for this position starts as listed in the job posting but may change based on education and experience. Final compensation is determined by various factors, such as education, training, experience, work location, required travel (if any), and external market conditions. In addition to salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401(k), paid time off including a generous holiday schedule.
