Product Evaporation or Concentration Expert- Black Cup Coffee

Position Summary:

The Product Technology Expert will leverage expertise as a cross-site subject matter expert for Black Cup by consistently delivering scientific based solutions and clear recommendations, and by driving/influencing the organization on resource planning and prioritization for deeper scientific research efforts. The Product Technology Expert will actively participate in our three Core Processes (Explore/Discovery/Develop) to fuel and deliver our pipelines on innovative and competitive products and technology/process systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technological scouting program in area of expertise by active and permanent search of internal (Nestle) or external partnerships (universities, suppliers, startups, etc.)
  • Investigate, evaluate and propose new technologies, concepts, processes, products or equipment and develop applications of findings for new uses and to create synergies through effective networking with all relevant stakeholders (R&D Units, business partners, markets, SBUs, Head Office, external partners)
  • Develop innovative solutions, including equipment design/modifications as needed during process development and to provide technical guidance on processes, processing parameters and equipment to team members and colleagues
  • Safeguard adequate protection strategies and applications for knowledge generation initiatives
  • Ensure Product and Process Mastership & Quality by Design
  • Provide Technical Assistance including training sessions for the markets, especially when introducing innovative technology to the group
  • Comply with Nestle Integrated Management Systems and all company policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications (Minimum Education, Experience, and Knowledge)

  • Minimum Master's Degree in Engineering, Material Science or Food Science
  • 10 years' experience in Concentration technologies in Food & Nutrition, Flavor & Fragrances, Pharmaceutical, Wastewater or Chemical industries, or a PhD in the related Engineering field
  • Deep knowledge in evaporation, fouling, product performance, pervaporation and material science. Knowledge of distillation, adsorption, micro/ultra/nanofiltration, reverse osmosis is a plus.
  • Experience in R&D is key and operational experience a plus
  • Curious, creative, making connections between very different contexts, experiences, industries
  • Strong communication, good interpersonal/teamwork skills and a good sense of business/technical interrelationships
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally / worldwide
  • Passion for coffee products and coffee making processes
