What You’ll Be Doing

As Assistant Controller with Chelsea Investment Corporation, you will be primarily responsible for assisting with all development-related accounting operations, including accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and treasury functions.

The Assistant Controller will also assist the Corporate Controller and CFO in establishing and maintaining procedures and controls as well as leading company initiatives.

Additionally, your tasks will include, but not be limited to:

·         Overseeing accounting operations, including establishing accounting policies and procedures to ensure all financial transactions are controlled, executed, and documented according to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

·         Preparing monthly financial reports which accurately summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position

·         Creating budgets and forecasts to analyze cash flow, identify trends, and track variances to mitigate risk and enhance the company’s financial results

·         Supervising and monitoring the financial integrity of the general ledger and financial accounting and reporting systems

·         Setting up and maintaining supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts

·         Recommending distributions based on available cash and anticipated future cash requirements

·         Leading the financial statement audit and assist with tax return filings including preparation of support schedules as requested by CPA firm

·         Establishing books and records for new entities and maintain business organizational charts

·         Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements

·         Acting as a supervisor, mentor, and instructor for accounting team members

What You’ll Need to Perform the Role

To be successful in this role, you’ll use your bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and four (4) years of experience in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in a related industry such as real estate, tax, banking, finance, or public administration; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill, and abilities have been attained.

You will also have:

  • Three (3) years of experience in accounting operations in a related industry
  • Two (2) years of experience in supervising accounting staff
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and accounting functions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Dynamics/Great Plains, Sage CRE (Timberline), and/or Textura preferred

 You’ll also need the following attributes:

  • Extremely organized with ingrained ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Keen attention to detail with focused adherence to strict deadlines and procedures
  • Sound problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to exercise sound independent judgment
  • Teamwork mindset to work effectively with a diverse group of people
  • Effective ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in verbal and written forms
  • Genuine desire to work in real estate development affordable housing industry

Hiring Range

$110K to $125K on an annualized basis, depending on qualifications.

The pay range for this position starts as listed in the job posting but may change based on education and experience. Final compensation is determined by various factors, such as education, training, experience, work location, required travel (if any), and external market conditions. In addition to salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401(k), paid time off including a generous holiday schedule.
