Project Policy Analyst - Department of Surgery, The Better Lab Surgery Full Time 73223BR Job Summary The Better Lab seeks a Project and Policy Analyst to oversee organizational and program activities, and to design and implement strategies for all research projects. This position involves analytical studies on a variety of policies, projects, programs and issues in support of all new and existing research initiatives and organizational units at The Better Lab. This individual will support policy and program planning, development, administration, management and implementation. They will interpret, monitor and analyze information regarding policies and procedures and provide consultative services to department administrators and other stakeholders. They will develop and lead research projects using human-centered design methods and manage all phases of the process including field research, systems mapping, prototyping, implementation and iteration under the direction of the Director of The Better Lab. To see the salary range for this position (we recommend that you make a note of the job code and use that to look up): Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role. For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range. To learn more about the benefits of working at UCSF, including total compensation, please visit: Department Description The Better Lab is a multi-disciplinary research and design lab based out of the Department of Surgery at ZSFG that uses a mixed method approach to addressing healthcare challenges. We merge principles of human-centered design and quality improvement to identify, implement and evaluate interventions that can be successful in solving some of the most pressing issues facing our general surgery and trauma patients at ZSFG. We take a human-centered design approach, starting with the users -- patients, physicians, caregivers and healthcare professionals to understand the context of their everyday lives as we work together to identify major pain points facing surgical care at ZSFG, develop solutions and iterate quickly to see what works. The Better Lab's current projects focus on generating improvements within the Department of Surgery. Projects include: improving the experience and efficiency of daily trauma rounds; improving patient attendance for elective general surgery in 3M and overall user experience in clinic; and improving the experience and efficiency of high level trauma activations.
