The Director of Marketing and Public Relations creates and maintains the public image for the college by overseeing the planning, development and execution of various publicity, promotions, communication, and advertising strategies. The director ensures the college’s brand awareness is growing and its public image is consistent and positive. The position directs the college’s media relations to include responding to media requests, developing, purchasing, and scheduling advertising campaigns to include the production of college publications. This director collaborates with other campus members and college leaders to plan and execute strategies for public relations, media relations, community relations, crisis communication, brand management, and advertising that support the organization’s goals. The director focuses communication efforts to engage target audiences, which include the community, alumni and friends, prospective students, current students, employees, business leaders, and the media. The director will be required to ensure ENMU-Roswell marketing and communications activities are the highest quality. This position reports to the President. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Acts as the primary media contact, liaison, and spokesperson for the campus.
- Assists the president in all areas of public relations including communication across campus, the media, community, state, and region.
- Assists the president in special projects.
- Serves as advisor on community issues.
- Coordinates interviews and press conferences.
- Participates in strategic long-range planning for the institution.
- Leads college-wide strategic marketing plans.
- Develops predictive analytic studies to assist and plan for campus marketing efforts.
- Represents the college in Chaves County.
- Develops and manages an annual budget for the office in conjunction with the business affairs office.
- Directs the college’s media relations activities, including the writing and dissemination of campus press releases and public service announcements.
- Assists in the coordination of various special and student events to foster community relationships.
- Develops partnerships with public and private organizations that help the college fulfill its mission.
- Coordinates with the social media coordinator to post content and college updates via social media.
- Serves as a “dispatcher” on the campus emergency notification system during severe weather or other emergencies.
- Coordinates and collaborates in the development of all college related publications.
- Manages the college’s trademarks to include their registration, licensing, royalties and follow-up on questions of trademark infringement to include oversight of the campus style guide, logos, and brands.
- Coordinates and purchases all print, online, and broadcast advertising for the promotion of campus programs, services and events.
- Assists in implementing the strategic enrollment management plan.
- Directs campus efforts to develop, implement, and evaluate a campus wide marketing strategy.
- Publishes campus wide messages to employees/students.
- Coordinates campus campaigns to promote projects to benefit the college, such as the General Obligation bond.
- Advises the president on local, state and federal legislative activities related to the campus.
- Develop and administer digital signage content.
- Participates in ongoing collaboration and consultation with colleagues at the Portales and Ruidoso campuses to support and promote system wide activities.
- Plan and organize work on multiple, concurrent initiatives and projects to successfully accomplish goals.
- Performs other duties as deemed necessary or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master in Business Administration from an accredited university.
- Experience in marketing and branding initiatives.
- Superior interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- History of making public presentations.
- Experience working with local community members, businesses, agencies, or governmental organizations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Marketing experience in a higher education, nonprofit, or governmental organization.
- Experience developing marketing plans.
- Bi-lingual capabilities in Spanish.
