SUMMARY:

The Southern Regional Education Board’s (SREB) Postsecondary Office of Student Success and Access is seeking a candidate for a Program Coordinator position. The Program Coordinator will coordinate processes, projects, and activities related to various higher education programs, with a particular focus on underserved students in higher education. The successful candidate will assist in program coordination, event planning, reporting, and communication activities related to the assigned programs. This position is ideal for early career candidates with a background in higher education, with great organizational and multi-tasking skills, and a passion for educational access and success for underserved students.

 

What does a Program Coordinator do?

  • Performs research to track developments in state- and national-level policy related to the Student Success and Access program.
  • Maintains and supports relationships with program members, partners, participants, and state agencies by creating communications, responding to inquiries, interpreting program policies, data collection, site visits and providing technical assistance.
  • Coordinates processes, reports, and agreements for the Office of Student Success and Access and associated programs.
  • Assist with the development of internal policy documents for assigned programs.
  • Assists with writing and editing briefs, reports, newsletters, flyers, brochures and other written communication.
  • Compiles and analyzes data for reporting and other communications, using surveys and demonstrating results by creating visual aids for the annual reports.
  • Works with the manager and Communications staff in the in developing or maintaining websites and other e-communication strategies.
  • Collaborates with program staff and partners to coordinate related meetings, conferences, and workshops engaged in open policy and practices in Higher Education, fostering collaboration and identifying potential areas of synergy. Includes, working in collaboration with other SREB staff for external meetings or complex internal meetings.
  • Maintains contacts database of individuals related to program.
  • Assists with identifying potential funders for related projects.
  • Collaborates with the planning, development and implementation of division and/or organizational projects, initiatives and programs related to student success and access in higher education.
  • Attend external meetings with public, private, non-profits, sites and stakeholders.
  • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team.
  • Represents the organization with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.

What does it take to be a Program Coordinator?

·     Bachelor’s degree in public administration, education, or a related field; AND two (2) years of project management and administrative support experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

 

For this opportunity, we seek candidates who have the following attributes:

  • Demonstrated commitment for college access programs, educational opportunity programs, or student success programs. - strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in support roles in higher education or related sectors. – strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of principles and practices of project management. – strongly preferred.
  • Preparing communications with accuracy and editing effective written informational or communication materials for clarity, consistency, and effectiveness that will be received internally, or externally.
  • Proficiency in online conferencing software (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams). - preferred.
  • Experience interacting with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, in person and over the telephone and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
  • Detail-oriented. Able to maintain accurate records. 
  • Experience in providing administrative support for grant-funded programs – preferred.
  • Working without close supervision, organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up assignments with a minimum of direction.
  • Skill in coordinating multiple projects and priorities and meeting deadlines. – preferred.
  • Skill in interpreting policies and using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
  • Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities.

To support SREB’s top priorities, compensation decisions balance internal equity and external competitiveness within the boundaries of financial feasibility. Salaries for new employees will be established at levels that recognize the individual’s skills and experience while considering the salary levels of current employees within the same job title and those performing comparable work within the parameters of discipline, function, and individual effectiveness. 

  • Starting Salary Range:  $45,571 - $56,964
  • Salary grade range:   $45,571 - $68,356
