GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent of three (3) to five (5) years' work experience in a Safety environment.
- Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technicians (OHST) or Certified Health & Safety Technicians (CHST) certification preferred.
- Work experience with Environmental regulations preferred.
- Previous experience working with explosives preferred.
- Must be Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 hour certified.
- OSHA 30 hour certified preferred.
- Must be able to receive clearance from Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosive (BATFE).
- Must have basic computer experience.
- Must possess valid driver's license.
- Must have good written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to work well with others and motivate employees.
- Be able to read, speak, and understand English.
- Be able to work well under the pressure.
- Be able to work all overtime as required.
JOB DUTIES:
- Assist the Safety, Environmental and Security Manager with the development, implementation and administration of the programs required to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Advise all personnel on safety, health, and environmental matters.
- Performs safety and environmental audits of buildings and operations.
- Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local and Army regulations applicable to the operations.
- Prepares all necessary documentation for safety permitting (e.g., hot work permits, area entry permits, Stop & Think forms, etc.) for the Radford Facility Army Ammunition Plant Operating Contractor (RFAAPOC), outside contractors and PbG maintenance personnel.
- Performs contractor safety training.
- Assists in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ergonomic assessments.
- Monitors the collection, packaging, and shipping of hazardous, universal and electronic waste.
- Participates in Plant Process Control Board (PPCB) activities as needed.
- Performs injury, incident and near-miss investigations and root cause analysis developing corrective actions to prevent recurrences.
- Coordinates industrial hygiene monitoring activities as needed.
- Assists Training Department in the development and delivery of safety meetings.
- Establishes and maintains a positive human relations climate in the department utilizing good communication practices, expeditious handling of complaints and problems.
- Participates in Yearly Management Review of all International Organization for Standardization (ISO) documentation as scheduled.

- Shares accountability for the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
- Ensures department is in compliance with ISO requirements.
- Ensures the Quality Policy and quality objectives are communicated within the Safety, Environmental & Security Department.
- Obeys all Company work and safety rules.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Safety, Environmental & Security Manager.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand, walk and move about the plant facilities for 8 to 12 hours per shift.
- Must be able to lift, push and pull 25-35 lbs. on a continuous basis, unassisted.
- Must be able to lift more than 70 lbs. with assistance.
- Must be able to work at elevated heights, if necessary.
- Must be able to work outdoors, as needed.
