The School District of Beloit is seeking a Literacy Instructional Coach that will serve district wide. This is a full time/permanent position based on a 200 day contract. Candidate should be passionate about preparing students to be successful in the future. Job Purpose The district level Literacy Instructional Coach serves as part of the Teaching, Learning and Equity Department and is responsible for supporting the implementation of evidence-based literacy and reading practices in schools and classrooms by working with and supporting teachers and administration to support the goals of increasing student engagement, improving student achievement, and building teacher capacity. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Supports and provides teachers with instructional strategies that include: in-class, student-centered coaching; observing; modeling instructional strategies; and guiding teachers in the analysis of student work. Guides teachers' and administrators on writing strategic lesson plans based on students' needs that supports data analysis, the integration of technology, as well as encourages collaboration and co-planning with teachers. Promotes digital literacy through instructional strategies. 2. Serves as a literacy instructional leader ensuring the adherence to rigorous and relevant academic standards across content areas, assists with the development and facilitation of school improvement plan and monitors. 3. Assists the instructional leadership teams and instructional staff in designing and delivering culturally responsive professional development learning opportunities for teachers. Provides staff with evidence-based strategies and best practices to meet and improve student equity and achievement. 4. Supprots the monitoring and analysis of classroom, grade level and school summative, interim, and formative achievement data to assist individual teachers and PLC's. Recommends and manages data-based teaching strategies and data-based student interventions to the building MLSS Data Teams. 5. Models the use of technology as an enhancement to student and staff learning. 6. Assists in collaborative development and district-wide diagnostic and benchmark assessments. 7. Establish and maintain confidential relationships with teachers. 8. Collaborates with Literacy, Biliteracy and Instructional Coaches and Building Leadership Teams. 9. Identifies and provides reading intervention(s) as needed. 10. Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department.
