Overview The EPA National Student Services Contract has an immediate opening for a full time Planning and Budget Travel Support position with the Office of Research and Development at the EPA facility in Research Triangle Park, NC. The Office of Research and Development at the EPA supports high-quality research to improve the scientific basis for decisions on national environmental issues and help EPA achieve its environmental goals. Research is conducted in a broad range of environmental areas by scientists in EPA laboratories and at universities across the country. What the EPA project is about The Office of Resource Management (ORM) provides administrative and support services for all employees of EPA's Office of Research and Development (ORD). The Planning and Budget Division (PBD), one of several divisions within ORM, is tasked with providing budget planning and execution services and travel preparation services, to ORD and in some cases the Agency. Responsibilities As a team member, you will assist PBD staff in executing their duties by providing both administrative and technical support to arrange, manage, and review travel plans for ORD managers and staff. Specific duties will include: (1) preparing and processing travel authorizations and vouchers that comply with Federal travel regulations and meet the needs of the ORD traveler in the most cost effective way possible; (2) managing travel records in automated systems/databases to track the status of specific trips and report any issues for staff and management attention; (3) reviewing travel-related data to ensure accuracy and quality; (4) providing excellent customer service to ORD and EPA staff on all travel related tasks and assignments including timely follow-up with travelers; (5) assisting management and staff as needed during regular and ad-hoc meetings; (6) performing searches in the Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) to respond to questions; (7) assisting with responses to information requests; (8) maintaining records in accordance with Federal regulations; and (9) providing general administrative support (word processing, data collection/analysis, copying, mailing, scheduling). The team member will perform duties, as requested, according to specifications and instructions provided by the mentor. All necessary instructions and training will be provided by the EPA mentor. Strong written and oral communication skills, organization, and computer skills;
Salary: Selected applicant will become a temporary employee of ORAU and will receive an hourly wage of $23.37 for hours worked. Hours: Full-time. Travel: Occasional overnight travel may be required. Expected start date: The position is full time and expected to begin October 2023. The selected applicant will become a temporary employee of ORAU working as a contractor to EPA.
