The School of Kinesiology is one of the largest and highest performing academic units at LSU with 36 faculty/teaching staff and 17 research labs. The School of Kinesiology, located in the heart of the Baton Rouge campus, is housed in the newly renovated Huey P. Long Field House and Gym Armory, which contain more than 49,000 sqft. of research and teaching labs, classrooms, meeting and office spaces, and a wellness center. The School of Kinesiology website address is http://www.lsu.edu/kinesiology Qualifications All Ranks: Candidates must have their doctorate degree in kinesiology, health, or a related field earned before employment. The candidate is expected to have strong expertise and a track-record of success as it relates to the use of biotechnologies such as a) accelerometry to capture objective measurement of human health behaviors (physical activity, sedentary behavior, and/or sleep) and/or b) artificial intelligence and machine-learning technologies to design, deliver, and evaluate mHealth and telehealth interventions. The candidate will be expected to actively seek and maintain extramural funding support of their research from NIH, NSF, USDA, DOD, and/or other external sources. Candidates who can demonstrate an ability to collaborate within the School of Kinesiology and across campus are encouraged to apply. Assistant Professor Rank: The candidate must provide evidence of scholarly activity that demonstrates a strong potential for publications in top-tier peer-reviewed journals, potential for and/or previous success securing external funding for scholarly activities, competence in teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in their area of expertise, and involvement in service to the University and the profession. Candidates with post doc experience are preferred. Associate Professor Rank: Candidates applying for the Associate Professor rank must meet the requirements for Assistant Professor and have a minimum Assistant Professor rank and qualifications for promotion to Associate Professor. Candidates must provide evidence of a productive scholarly record including scholarly publications in top-tier journals and an externally funded research program that will complement the current faculty members in Behavioral, Psychological, and Pedagogical Sciences. Professor Rank: Candidates applying for the Professor rank must have a minimum Associate Professor rank and qualifications for promotion to Professor rank. Candidates must provide evidence of sustained excellence in scholarly activity in nationally and internationally recognized top-tier peer-reviewed journals, excellent track record of external funding for scholarly activities, extensive teaching experience in higher education, including undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise, as well as successful mentoring of graduate students as the primary mentor. Preferred candidates will have prior experience in leadership roles, experience working with diverse student populations, and involvement in University service. Responsibilities: (1) Develop and sustain a focused, fundable research program; (2) teach undergraduate courses and/or graduate courses in Behavioral, Psychological, and Pedagogical Sciences; (3) recruit and provide advisement to graduate students, and direct dissertations; (4) provide service to the School, College, University, and Profession-based committees as appropriate Rank: Open Rank.
