As the Senior Engineering Manager (Group Supervisor) of the Embedded Applications Group, you will be responsible for leading a diverse and passionate organization that crafts and delivers world class embedded software that enables our nation's space exploration and national security.

In addition, in this role you will...

  • Oversee and manage group activities that include spacecraft flight software engineering, high-fidelity real-time test environments, and autonomy systems. Maintain the group's technical capabilities, laboratories, and equipment to ensure they remain relevant to the mission of the Space Exploration Sector.
  • Orchestrate the development of strategic technology plans and associated group plans for the continued advancement of the group's technology, products, staff, and services.
  • Perform group planning, business development, and line management functions in support of the Space Formulation, Civil Space Flight, and National Security Space Mission Areas and the Space Systems Implementation Branch Office.
  • Perform line management tasks, to include staff assignments, new hire decisions and placing, staff development and retention, staff reclassification and program and project appointments.
  • Foster a positive culture of empowered, engaged, communicative, and collaborative teams.
  • Champion coaching and mentoring within the group for tailoring individual career journeys while advancing group capability.
  • Manage group resources including capital and training budgets and group infrastructure including multiple flight software development laboratories.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • At least 7+ years' experience in high reliability hardware/system development, including proven experience in product development and test.
  • At least three years of prior supervisory experience in a relevant software development area.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience with hiring, training, performance management, and mentoring staff
  • Are able to obtain a Top Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • A Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Previous experience as an Engineering Manager (Assistant Group Supervisor / Group Supervisor).
  • Knowledge of NASA and DoD satellite systems and requirements.
  • Experience with staff and resource management including ratings, budgeting, purchasing and business practices.
  • Experience with AS9100 compliance.
  • Familiarity with APL tools for project and group management (for example, PEER, EGP).
  • Possess an existing TS/SCI clearance.
