Laboratory Tech - Neurology

Description The Laboratory Tech will work as part of research team that will identify biomarkers of the development of epilepsy after a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Employee will perform surgical procedures for fluid percussion injury and implantation of electrode. The Laboratory Tech will also assist in assessing rat behavior and collecting blood samples before and after surgery, and help to collect and review EEG to determine which TBI rats develop epilepsy and which ones do not.
*This is a full-time, 18 month limited position that may convert to career.
Pay Range: $19.32 - $22.37 Hourly
Qualifications Required:
Ability to learn new laboratory techniques and new lab equipment as needed.
General knowledge of University procedures.
Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures for handling surgical instruments, scalpels, needles, and biohazardous waste.
Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience
UCLA DLAM and RATS training to work with animals.
Preferred:
B.S. Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience, or related-field
