Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice registered nurse and is key to the clinical operational execution of Mobile HeaL and its subsidiary programs. The NP is the lead for patient evaluations and treatment decisions and acts as the licensed provider on site, monitoring clinical tasks performed by lower-level unlicensed clinical staff.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

Mobile HeaL, which stands for Mobile Health and Learning, is UCSF Fresno's mobile clinic. Through Mobile HeaL, UCSF Fresno takes health care to communities where it is needed most and provides learning opportunities for future health care providers. The COVID-19 Equity Project (CEP) expands UCSF Fresno's Mobile HeaL program by bringing equal access to barrier-free COVID and other health care services to target communities, in partnership with community-based organizations. We are staffed by members from communities we serve and seek to develop current and aspiring health care professionals through service to underrepresented communities.

Required Qualifications


  • Minimum two (2)+ years experience as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Have a reliable source of transportation
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule and location

Preferred Qualifications


  • Triage skills
  • Experience performing complex physical assessments
  • Related NP experience in both adult and pediatric populations
  • Experience working in remote or low resource practice environments
  • Desire to work with underserved populations, particularly unsheltered or migrant populations
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Problem solving ability
  • Ability to work well with other healthcare providers and staff
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

License/Certification


  • Successful completion of a Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) recognized graduate Master's Degree program as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.
  • Must hold a current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
  • Current active and/or transferable DEA license (schedule III-IV) in California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare providers.
  • Valid California driver's license (CDL), if driving.


UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
