Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary: $4,066 per month

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,066 - $5,752 per month
  • This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.
  • Positions at Fresno State are to perform their work onsite. Some positions, depending upon University needs and operations, may be eligible for remote work, one day per week, pursuant to Fresno State's remote work guidelines and the CSU policy.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean of the Kremen School of Education and Human Development and the lead work direction of the Educator Preparation Coordinator, the candidate will serve as an Academic Advisor. This position is the initial contact for all undergraduates in the Liberal Studies major and prospective teaching credential program students.

Key Qualifications
  • General knowledge of research and interview techniques.
  • General knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior.
  • General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management.
  • General knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of a university advising center or college.
    • Ability to:
      • Learn to interpret and apply university rules and regulations specific to the Liberal Studies and credential programs.
      • Analyze individual student needs and situations and obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews, including review of student background and pertinent documents to determine eligibility.
      • Reason logically and use judgment primarily to locate, select and organize information pertaining to program operations and services.
      • As experience is gained will provide oral presentations to student groups, as requested.
      • Recognize multi-cultural, multi-sexed and multi-aged value systems and work accordingly.
      • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies, and student advising and community contacts.
      • Rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions and programs of California State University, Fresno.

Education and Experience
  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field
    • Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Master's degree in college counseling.
    • Experience with Liberal Studies major advising.
    • Knowledge of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing standards.
    • Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Google Suite, Bulldog Connect.
