About the Callaway Energy Center

The Callaway Energy Center is a nuclear facility located in mid-Missouri. The Energy Center has more than 800 employees and contractors working at the facility, and it has established a strong record of safe operation throughout its 30-year operating history. The Energy Center is a highly efficient, low-cost, sustainable source of electricity for Ameren Missouri's 1.2 million customers.

About The Position
The Manager, Maintenance is a leadership role reporting to the Director, Maintenance and is responsible for all maintenance efforts throughout the plant, establishing the necessary standards, oversight and manpower levels required to perform both routine and emergency type maintenance activities. When necessary, the Manager, Maintenance determines and seeks the services of others to perform work beyond the capabilities of the plant maintenance group while maintaining oversight and responsibility of all personnel performing maintenance activities (FSAR 13.1.2.2.3)

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and direct a team of 30-40 maintenance employees, with an overall annual budget responsibility of approximately $6M.
  • Develop and implement administrative maintenance program, providing for advance planning and scheduling of required routine preventive maintenance activities.
  • Manage maintenance activities performed by department personnel or outside organizations supporting Maintenance Department activities.
  • Implement Maintenance Department policies and programs.
  • Coordinate with Daily and Outage Scheduling in the development of work plans and schedules.
  • Lead efforts of supervisors and technicians ensuring that maintenance activities are performed in accordance with applicable instructions, drawings, and procedures.
  • Responsible for the selection, training, development, and evaluation of department personnel.
  • Establish and control the maintenance discipline budget.
  • Assume Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties in accordance with Callaway Energy Center Radiological Emergency Response Plan (RERP) including responding to assigned ERO facilities within the required RERP response time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution required. Seven or more years of power plant or industrial experience in the applicable maintenance discipline is required, including one or more years in the applicable maintenance discipline at an operating nuclear power plant. Four or more years of directly relevant experience (in addition to the required seven years of experience) may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree.
  • Three or more years of supervisory or high-level team/project leadership required.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office required. Good decision making, communication and human relations skills required. Proficiency with labor relations required. After preliminary review, selected applicants must take the First Line Supervisor Test and obtain a recommended status in order to be eligible for additional selection procedures (e.g., interview) designated for this position. Security screening required for Callaway Energy Center access.

Working Conditions
The Manaqer, Maintenance works a standard day shift in a nuclear plant environment. Callouts and working rotating of Outage schedules may be required to support plant operations. The Manager, Maintenance I&C is responsible for continuous coverage for Operations support.
