Parent Liaison (PAT NAVGTR NON-CLIN)

Job Summary

As a parent of a previously hospitalized infant/child, this position is specially trained to provide peer support to parents and adult family members of current UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital patients in the center for families and at the bedside. Parent liaisons are effective managers of their own child's health care and are trained to provide support, modeling, suggestions and validation to parents who are building their own partnerships with their child's health care team.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications

* Parent or family member of previously hospitalized neonate at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital
* Parent is not in active care and has the ability to use experience in a productive and solution oriented manner.
* Knowledgeable about service delivery systems, including health, education and social services.
* Strong interpersonal skills, empathetic and has the ability to actively listen and communicate well
* Ability to speak comfortably in front of others
* Ability to interact with many different kinds of people
* Ability to represent the ideas, concerns and experiences of many families, beyond his/her own child and family
experience
* Working knowledge of committees and organizations
* Flexibility and willingness to learn
* Serves as a role model for other families in collaborative relationships within the healthcare system
* Maintains a sense of humor, a sense of vision and is committed to the idea of positive change

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree preferred.
* Spanish Speaking preferred
* Has served on BCH Family Advisory Council for a minimum of 6 months
