Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications
Licensed Veterinary Technician with experience in a surgery based hospital setting.
Position Summary
The Registered Veterinary Technician in Cardiology will perform physical exams, technician appointments, patient restraint, patient sedation, intravenous catheterization, routine laboratory procedures, venipuncture, and indirect blood pressure. Obtain urine by expression, cystocentesis or catheterization. Administer treatments, drugs, fluids, and medications by oral, parenteral and injectable routes. Client communication in person and via phone or e-mail. Acquire diagnostic ECG tracings. Prepare and apply Holtor monitors and telemetry. Set up and assist with paracentesis, echocardiogram, electrocardiogram ( ECG), interventional radiology procedures, electrocardioversion, oxygen cage, and surgical procedures. Review Holtor monitor tracings. Assist in euthanasia and emergency resuscitation procedures.

a) Registered veterinary technician qualification with active license

Physical Demands
1. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
2. Sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces.
3. Work with small, delicate pieces of equipment or large heavy objects/containers/machinery.
4. Wear all protective gear including mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles etc.
5. Work for long periods of time with arms extended.
