Overview

Provides strategic oversight and leadership for our IT infrastructure encompassing data center operations, network operations, security operations, vendor management, as well as process improvements and automation. Ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the IT infrastructure that supports core organizational functions. Involves direct supervision of the day-to-day operations of all IT operations systems, as well as the implementation of new IT infrastructure systems. Plays a key role in developing strategies and policies related to the IT infrastructure of our organization, maximizing the value of our IT investments, and ensuring we adhere to best practices for security and data management. May manage the work efforts of supervisors/individual contributors with responsibility for staffing decisions, performance appraisals, and pay reviews.

This is a hybrid role, based out of our Niles, IL office.



Responsibilities

    Directs all aspects of data center operations, both on-premises and in AWS. This includes, but is not limited to:
    o Optimizing the current infrastructure for maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
    o Controlling data center cost and forecasting necessary budget adjustments.
    o Developing and implementing a data center strategy that aligns with the company's goals and growth plan.
    o Evaluating and deploying new technologies to improve data center performance and reliability.
    o Ensuring data center operations are compliant with industry standards and regulations.
    o Overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations, ensuring service availability and performance.
    o Coordinating with the security operations team to ensure the highest level of data protection and disaster recovery plans are in place.
    o Collaborating with network and security operations teams to seamlessly integrate data center operations into the broader IT infrastructure.
  • Leads the network operations team in managing and optimizing our corporate network, including hardware configuration and refresh including, but not limited to:
    o Ensuring the stability and reliability of our corporate network by continuously monitoring network performance and making necessary adjustments.
    o Developing and implementing strategies for network optimization and efficiency to support business operations.
    o Collaborating with other teams to ensure network architecture supports the needs of various business services.
    o Overseeing the maintenance and upgrades of network hardware and software to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency.
    o Managing and troubleshooting network and system issues to minimize disruption to the business.
    o Continually assessing network performance data to identify potential problems and make proactive adjustments.
    o Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations in all network operations.
    o Providing technical guidance and training to the network operations team.
  • * Oversees the security operations team in handling IAM platform operations, privileged access management operations, and spam filter management. This includes but is not limited to:
    o Directing the operations of the Identity and Access Management (IAM) platform to ensure proper access controls are in place and maintained.
    o Overseeing privileged access management operations to prevent unauthorized access.
    o Maximizing the value of our security platforms through efficient and effective usage.
    o Managing spam filter operations to protect the organization from malware and other potential threats.
    o Training and mentoring the security operations team, building their skills and knowledge in various security aspects.
  • Continually reviews, recommends, and implements process improvements across the team with a focus on automation.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive strategies for infrastructure management and improvement.
  • Manages and evaluates relationships with major infrastructure and network vendors, ensuring high standards of service.
  • Engages in contract negotiation and renewals with IT vendors.
  • Ensures all systems are designed to meet the highest standards of security and performance.
  • Collaborates with different teams to ensure the infrastructure and network support the organization's IT needs.
  • Plans and manages the budget for IT infrastructure, network operations, and vendor contracts.
  • Stays up-to-date with the latest technology trends and recommend necessary upgrades or replacements.
  • Leads, trains, and mentors IT staff, promoting a collaborative work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure and network operations including at least two years of management responsibility in a leadership role
  • Experience in managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of data center management, network operations, IT vendor management, and process improvement techniques.
  • Familiarity with AWS, IAM operations, privileged access management operations, and spam filter management.
  • Strong knowledge of IT security best practices and process automation.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Previous experience in assisting with the establishment of company policies, operational objectives, and work plans that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect,
  • Ability to work on issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives, as well as an understanding of company culture.
  • Able to implement strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Able to establish and assure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and business activities.
  • Able to interact with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning functional areas, divisions, and/or customers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from others, without damaging the relationship.
