Huntsman is seeking a EH&S Manager supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in McIntosh, AL. This position will report to the Regional EHS Manager.

Job Scope

The position exists to directly be responsible for how Huntsman Advanced Materials, McIntosh Site conducts its business in accordance with all corporate and regulatory policies, procedures, and acts of law regarding the environment, health and safety; and that the company is effectively providing an environmentally sound, safe and healthy work environment for the employees of the Huntsman Advanced Materials, McIntosh Site and the extended neighboring community.

As the EH&S Manager, you will:

  • Direct the activities of the site environmental, health and safety group to coordinate those efforts toward a common goal of providing an environmentally sound, safe and healthy work environment for the Huntsman Advanced Materials, McIntosh Site employees, as well as neighboring community.
  • Act as an advisor to the Site Manager in all matters pertaining to environmental compliance, health and safety, including but not limited to legal matters.
  • Direct the implementation of federal, state, and local governmental policies and regulations in matters of environmental compliance, health and safety and assures compliance in all matters under his/her direction.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of Huntsman Advanced Materials, McIntosh Site's Medical Department.
  • Administer site Environmental, Health & Safety policies, evaluate work, and make recommendations to the Site Manager on hiring, promotions, salaries, and release of people under his/her direction.
  • Responsible for the preparation and timely submission of the environmental, health and safety expense, staffing, and capital budgets. Ensure that expenditures are appropriate and properly documented and within budget or appropriated amounts.
  • In conjunction with managers and supervisors of other site departments, assist the Site Manager in setting site policies, practices and procedures and in operating the plant so as to maximize profits.
  • Perform as an active participate on the Site Leadership Team.
  • Responsible for site security, emergency response team, and product sample shipping.

Other general responsibilities:

  • Follow instructions and perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Assist other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals.
  • Participate in and complete company-required training programs.
  • Participate in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.

Required Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, safety or industrial hygiene or related field, master's degree is preferred.
  • One year of relevant experience may typically be substituted for one year of formal education.
  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Requires a broad knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations and laws governing research and development facilities.
  • Must have 5+ years' experience in the chemical industry with extensive background in laboratory operations and/or plant operations and equipment.
  • Ability to coordinate the activities of environmental, industrial hygiene, safety and health personnel in all matters pertaining to the compliance status of the site.
  • Must have high technical and analytical abilities to identify environmental, health and safety trends and to act to meet these requirements with minimum disruption and expense.
  • Requires tact and diplomacy in dealing with government representatives, press representatives, associates, and the general public.
  • Experience with Behavioral Based Safety Systems desirable.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Certifications in one or more applicable areas of environmental, health, and safety (i.e., CIH, REM, CSP).
