Description

EMPLOYEE'S MUST RESIDE WITHIN THE CITY OF PEORIA.

DEPARTMENT: POLICE DEPARTMENT
LOCATION: 600 SW ADAMS STREET
HOURS: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
The purpose of this position is to receive and process payments associated with enforcement of municipal ordinance impoundments and parking regulations, maintain records, process appeals, and coordinate with parking enforcement personnel. The parking enforcement coordinator operates under the direction of the Traffic and Parking Enforcement Sergeant

Examples of Duties

Administrative and Reporting Responsibility:

  • Prepares administrative hearing dockets.
  • Attends administrative hearings and assists the administrative hearing officer.
  • Issues post-adjudication collection notices and engages in other post-adjudication collection efforts.
  • Monitors service requests regarding abandoned vehicles and other parking-related concerns.
  • Prepares regular reports regarding parking citations issued, adjudication results, and collection results.
* Enforces the municipal parking code.

Customer Service:
  • Answers questions from the general public regarding municipal parking regulations and citations.
  • Receives and processes municipal ordinance vehicle impoundment fees and parking payments.
Issues parking citation hearing notices to respondents.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED; and,
Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes, a minimum typing of 35 wpm.
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Licenses and Certifications:
Notary Public preferred.

Supplemental Information

Customer service skills are necessary. Knowledge of applicable state, federal and local ordinances, laws, rules and regulations; all computer applications and hardware related to performance of the essential functions of the job; correct English usage including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary; recordkeeping, report preparation, filing and records management techniques. Skill in using tact, discretion, initiative, and independent judgment within established guidelines; using a computer terminal to enter and retrieve data and information accurately and rapidly; communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to recognize meaning of common two- or three syllable words; perform the four basic arithmetic operations; write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses.
