Job Summary

The Business Development Representative (BD Rep) is responsible for developing a sales strategy and pipeline to sell professional services offerings by Veregy and its subsidiaries. The BD Rep will focus on the current markets in driving lead generation, proposal development, and customer service, while analyzing the competition and the Company's strengths and weaknesses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and own market strategies for obtaining and closing new business opportunities including competitive analysis, and vertical market and horizontal business development strategies.
  • Analyze the potential of specific clients and project opportunities while considering changing market conditions.
  • Partner and collaborate with internal and external resources to ensure planning, presentations and sales deliverables meet timelines and requirements.
  • Utilize Sales Force software and other tools to track and document sales opportunities utilizing company standard processes.
  • Act as the client's single point of contact from the initial sales cycle to beyond and facilitate handoffs to other staff as needed.
  • Provide support to the customer with regards to projects, financing and contracting issues.
  • Prepare presentations, accurate estimates, quality proposals, and fee estimates with support from the technical and marketing teams.
  • Deliver a solid pipeline resulting in sales meeting or exceeding set revenue expectations each fiscal year.
  • Travel to meet with clients or prospective clients; non-work activities to network with clients and prospective clients (i.e. dinner, golf, etc.).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have demonstrated proficiency for all the duties/responsibilities of a Business Development Manager.
  • Knowledge of building infrastructure mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, contracts, proposals and estimates.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to explain technical products.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of technical products to be sold.
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to maintain relationship with clients.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.

Educational/Certification Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, construction management or related business.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years' sales experience in an outside sales role.
  • 10+ years' sales experience with electrical or mechanical construction contractor preferred.

Work environment

  • Work environment includes office environment and field environment for construction new builds and updates to existing buildings.

Physical demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Travel required

  • Significant amount of travel via car and/or airplane.
