Volunteer Guide

The Saint Louis Art Museum will begin training a group of volunteer guides in fall, 2024. These guides will play an important role in helping our visitors art in the Museum's galleries. Volunteer guides will welcome visitors and encourage conversations. They will lead tours for school children, families, and adult groups. These guides will join a group of trained volunteers who have welcomed visitors of all ages to the Saint Louis Art Museum for over 60 years.

The Museum's goal is to recruit guide applicants who will bring a diverse range of life experiences and perspectives to their roles. Ideal candidates will have strong interpersonal communication skills and a sincere desire to learn how to connect with our visitors through art-centered experiences. No prior knowledge of art or art history is required.

We plan to offer initial training in a 12-week session with both virtual and in-person classes. The required in-person classes will take place once a week, and will be offered on both weekends and weekdays to accommodate a range of schedules. We intend to review applications on a rolling basis, with the goal of responding to all applicants by September 30, 2024.
