Job Description

The Design Coordinator (DC) supports the Designers from project design initiation through completion of project. Plays a critical role in reviewing information, preparing documentation, maintaining department design standards, and communicating with the AM/PM to ensure thorough food service documents. Responsible for achieving Company results within a team environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Review documents for accuracy of Company design standards.
  • Request missing information from internal Account Manager/Project Manger and Project Coordinator in order to complete documents.
  • Review shop drawings for consistency and update drawings.
  • Respond to change orders, request for information (RFI's), architectural supplemental information (ASI's) and other paperwork, and creates and tracks all change orders.
  • Schedules customer meetings with Senior Designer.
  • Schedule hand-off meetings with Account Manager and Project Manager.
  • Prepare and manage project design deliverables, resources, budget, and timing
  • Provide a project schedule to identify when each task will be performed and by whom
  • Work with customer, manufacturer, designer, and all stakeholders to complete project objectives
  • Act as a mediator between customer stakeholders and all internal and external team members supporting the project
  • Work as liaison between the architect, customer owner/lead, designers and construction team to facilitate communication, decision-making and problem solving
  • Proactively anticipate issues and take initiative to prevent delays and problems; resolve issues promptly
  • Track and report on project milestones and provide status reports design team members
  • Complete a post-evaluation of each project to determine how well results were achieved. Include the customer and all team members, including salesperson, to determine improvements; share learning with other project managers; implementing change for next project.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

External Qualifications

Required: College degree desired. Must be proficient in all MS Office programs (OneNote, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.). Restaurant/food service industry experience highly valued. Must be customer service oriented and have experience working in a team environment. Ability to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in priorities and schedules. Excellent communication, problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to elicit cooperation from resources throughout the Company as well as outside. Ability to take initiative and multi-task.

Preferred: Familiarity with project management in a construction setting a plus.
