POSITION OVERVIEW

ELSCO prides itself on providing a first-class customer experience, as a result this position focuses on technical support for our products both internally with our teams and externally with our customers. Reporting to our Inside Sales and Customer Service Manager, the Sales Engineer will provide technical assistance using knowledge of the elevator industry as well as ELSCO products knowledge, via phone and e-mail, and with customers requiring new installations or modernization projects, both pre and post-sales. The Sales Engineer supports the ELSCO Customer Service and Sales Teams by providing expertise and experience from working in the elevator industry.

Essential Functions and Tasks:

  • Provides technical assistance and guidance to ELSCO's customers on use of our products in both new installations and modernization projects
  • Assists with product selection based on customer needs and project or application requirements
  • Communicates with customers on the phone and via email to address and resolve customer inquiries and supports the Customer Service and Sales Teams with technical knowledge
  • Conducts inside sales transactions and provides customer support
  • Enters quotations and orders into our ERP system: Visual
  • Sends quote confirmation - with pricing, availability, lead times to customers
  • Sends order confirmation - providing pricing, scheduled ship date
  • Tracks and enters customer complaints into our quality management system UniPoint
  • Enters RMA's (Return Material Authorization) into Visual
  • Attends Trade shows, events
  • Provides product training both within ELSCO and externally with our customers
  • Performs other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICIATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Background and Skills Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the elevator industry
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to identify and correct complex elevator problems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and make necessary adjustments and repairs to elevator guides
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a personality that inspires trust and respect from customers
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, proven record in presenting to customers and groups
  • Ability to communicate customer technical problems and product needs to our internal teams
  • Ability to provide top class service to our customers with professionalism in high stress situations
  • Proficient skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Previous experience with ERP and CRM tools
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. with assistance
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time both domestically, as needed, and internationally, occasionally

Additional Background and Skills Preferred:

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree
  • 5 or more years of elevator industry experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Mostly sedentary work when in office, sitting up to 85% of the time
  • Ability to walk in the office up to 15% to coordinate with manufacturing on customer concerns
  • Ability to visually assess customer concerns and needs
  • Ability to communicate over phone and e-mail up to 90% of the time
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs. with assistance
  • Ability to stand and walk at trade shows up to 100% of the time
  • Ability to travel via automobile or plane
