Position Location: This position is located in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Los Alamos is a tight-knit mountain community that consistently ranks as one of Livability.com's Best Small Towns in America. Position Summary: N3B is seeking outgoing and dynamic engineers to support field activities related to the successful completion and delivery of projects and tasks. N3B engineering is primarily composed of mechanical, civil, fire protection, and electrical engineers. The field engineer will be the onsite representative for the engineering department. As a field engineer, you will use your engineering skills and construction experience to support new projects, upgrades to existing properties, and support sustainable design and energy conservation programs. You will be responsible for ensuring that construction work is professionally performed and compliant. You will be accountable for quality assurance, safety, and administrative tasks related to all aspects of various projects; within multiple disciplines. The successful candidate must be able to build strong relationships with the personnel operating and maintaining N3B facilities to ensure that designs are developed and implemented in accordance with facility needs and engineering standards. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required as well as the ability to multi-task and work independently and in a team. Ideal candidates possess the ability to interact with engineers of multiple disciplines and a desire to develop a diverse engineering background. While working to achieve N3B objectives, the successful candidate will: ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner through maintaining required safety, security, and operational training. Making safety, security and quality an integral part of every task including taking the necessary steps to pause or stop work as necessary to ensure the safety and security personnel and the job site. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Normally assigned to perform work in an office environment with occasional field work. Electrical hazards and other minor potential hazards normally found in an office environment are anticipated. Minor hazards normally found in a northern New Mexico field data collection environment are anticipated. Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the discipline. Office and field work environment. This role will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
