Tumble Operator I - 3rd Shift

Occupational Summary:

Performs tumbling machine operations on components to specified procedures by performing the below duties:

Operate all types of tumbling machines and sandblasters to deburr, smooth, and burnish bearing components such as balls, rings, retainers, shields, and seals.

Refer to Shop Order, routing tickets, and standard procedures book for operation sequence, identify proper media for the job, and length of operating cycle. Check all parts before running to identify (i.e. heavy burrs, mixed parts, nicks in track, or bore etc.). Be sure media will not plug bores or recesses. If needed, media will be screened according to the correct size needed. Follow established procedures and verbal instructions. Use microscope to check work.

Load tumbler with parts; add cleaning or abrasive compound and water in prescribed amounts; clamp cover, start machine, and tumble; unload barrel and separate parts from media with the correct screen. Check parts for conformance to specifications and ensure parts are not plugged in bores or recess prior to leaving area.

Assist in training of personnel in tumbling methods and operating procedures.

Detect and report unusual conditions and special problems to Supervisor. Move media, parts, and containers as required in performance of duties or as directed. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.

Sign and date Shop Order upon completion of job, and accurately report quantity produced and quantity

scrapped.

Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and conform to OSHA regulations.

Perform housekeeping duties as necessary to maintain area and machines in a neat and orderly fashion.

Perform other duties as directed or required.

NOTES:

(1) Assigned work areas may change as production requirements warrant.

(2) Operators are responsible to produce quality parts; i.e. within print specifications. Non-conformance to specifications must immediately be brought to the attention of Set-up person, Master Set-up person and/or Supervisor.

Diagnose and correct operating difficulties.

Work subject to process inspection; screen parts for established defect characteristics.

Maintain necessary records. Detect and report unusual conditions and special problems to proper supervisor. Move materials, parts, and containers, as required, in performance of duties or as directed. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and conform to OSHA regulations. Keep work area in clean orderly condition.

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Job Skills:

Ability to read and understand complex written and verbal instructions in English

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction) and maintain an understanding of the decimal system

Abilities:

Able to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of the organization

Other Requirements:

Note: Physical job requirements may include standing, use of hands to assemble and or carry out job functions as well as sitting, lifting, carrying, bending and stooping during the course of the job.

Ability to lift 40 lbs.

Pay Scale:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour DOE
Additional .75 per hour - 2nd shift incentive
Additional 15% or hourly rate - 3rd shift incentive
