Job Description This role is part of the O&M BOP Team, reporting to the BOP/High Voltage Team Leader, the High Voltage Specialist provides the safe management, maintenance, documentation, and repair guidance of high voltage equipment and Balance of Plant components for our Wind, Solar, and Solar plus Storage sites. This role is based in Mid- Atlantic. Essential Functions: Investigate/document NERC-registered protection system operations, report mis-operations to the AES Clean Energy (AES CE) NERC compliance team, develop/document Corrective Action Plans as needed and ensure Corrective Actions have been completed Reads/analyzes relay event files to assist O&M personnel in determining causes of trips and identifying where faults may be in the System Implement the Protection System Maintenance Plan for all newly on-boarded NERC registered assets Is familiar with Protection System corrective and preventative maintenance for all assets. for NERC-registered assets, this maintenance shall be done in accordance with PRC-005-6. Ensure all maintenance records are up to date for all protection system components Knowledge of various equipment found in substation protection schemes including microprocessor relays, electro-mechanical lock-out relays, communication pathways (including fiber optic paths), potential transformers, current transformers, etc. In-depth knowledge of NERC standards associated with Protection Systems including (but not limited to): PRC-005-6, PRC-004-5(i), PRC-026-1, PRC-027-1 Works with commissioning team for new projects to ensure all SCADA monitoring points are brought in from protection system relays for adequate system health monitoring and ensuring consistency among assets Reviews AES CE currently operating assets to identify weakness in protection monitoring and maintenance and makes recommendations for improvement Plays an active role to drive operation and maintenance to a 115 KV interconnect Responsible for all high voltage activities 115 KV and 34.5 KV (Vacuum Circuit Breakers & GSU) Fix and repair of electrical components - Switch gear, Transformers, Protection Relays, and Breakers Safe and proper use of electrical testing equipment. Manage and coordinate the work of multiple contractors and suppliers Effectively schedule electrical work activities and outage coordination Responsible for predictive, preventive, and corrective electrical maintenance activities. Maintain accurate records and files Ensure high-voltage tools, equipment and parts are available or in stock to perform work. Maintain good/working relationships with investors and key points of contact Educational and Skill Qualifications:
Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
