The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Supervisor provides independent advanced level nurse practitioner clinical expertise to patients and their families on an on-going basis and oversee other nurse practitioners. This includes managing scheduling, time off requests and organizational oversight of the work unit to ensure the competence and qualifications of direct reports. Management of the NP team is a collaborative effort with the NP manager with contribution and recommendations for hiring, on-boarding and counseling. NPs are expected to act as an expert resource person for health care providers including nurses, residents and other ancillary staff. Acts as an expert resource person for health care providers, orients/precepts new nurse practitioners (NPs) to role responsibilities of the service, establishes standardized procedures and protocols for NP practice, conducts research and teaching programs. Assists in establishing educational opportunities for nurse practitioners. Acts as a liaison for NP supported services and PCS Director of Advanced Practice. Provides practice supervision for all NP II FTE assigned. Acts in the absence of the program manager. Provides support for the NP direct reports. Apply By Date: February 23, 2024. Department Description The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Supervisor cares for neonatal patients with congenital anomalies, birth asphyxia, respiratory distress, preterm delivery, meconium aspiration, pulmonary hypertension and any other conditions that require admission to the NICU. The role of the Neonatal NP is to facilitate multi-disciplinary care through interaction with patients, housestaff, attendings and nurses. The NP may also perform invasive procedures as directed by the attending faculty and in accordance with standardized procedures. In addition to clinical duties, the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Supervisor directly supervises NNPs. Supervision duties include annual performance evaluations, scheduling, payroll, hiring, individual performance improvement, and cooperation with NICU faculty and NICU Nursing leadership. The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Supervisor may also be involved with quality improvement projects and/or research projects. Position Information
