Wire EDM Operator - 2nd Shift

Description

Under the general supervision of the Team Leader and General Manager, the EDM Operator is responsible for making various parts to customer specifications by programming and operating the Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM).

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, specifications, referencing planes. Locations of surfaces and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Program EDM by entering instructions, setting tool registers, offsets, and calculating requirements.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample parts, adhering to standards.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, troubleshooting malfunctions and/or calling for maintenance.
  • Adjust machine and fixture stops to maintain finish and tolerance requirements.
  • Effectively communicate continuity among work shifts by documenting actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Work from part drawings and use required precision measuring instruments to check machine positioning and inspect work.
  • Complete any and all paperwork as required; Job Traveler, VISTA, etc.
  • Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures.
  • Comply with all quality and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Conceptual skills.
  • Strong knowledge of technical GD&T drawing reading skills.
  • Ability to understand quality standards and gauging.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds intermittently.
  • Ability to stand 100% of workday; occasionally bend or twist.
