Primary Responsibilities:



  • Serve as a statistical expert on research projects that aim to evaluate Surest products, with a demonstrated ability to design research projects from end-to-end, including but not limited to data preparation, method selection, execution, and communication of results
  • Use programming languages such as Python (PySpark, pandas), R, and SQL to build efficient data pipelines and analytics
  • Appropriate use of simple analytical methods (means, weighted means, counts) and more complex methods (regression modeling, matching methods, machine learning) to evaluate and report on various components of Surest, including but not limited to digital app engagement, financial performance, and health care utilization
  • Synthesize requests from non-technical stakeholders into meaningful analyses through identification of appropriate data sources and methods
  • Support and lead the creation of scalable analytic processes, such as new analytic reports
  • Independently review claims data, provider data, digital data, and other health care data to clearly understand capabilities and limitations of the data for analyses
  • Participate in technical documentation of analytics and results
  • Support review of internal and external deliverables for accuracy (QA)

Years of post-high school education can be substituted/is equivalent to years of experience

Required Qualifications:



  • Experience with Python, R, and SQL
  • Experience with health care data
  • Ability to provide methodological consultation on statistical studies and analyses, for example should have experience with regression modeling and hypothesis testing
  • Ability to interpret analytic results and provide analytic input for final reports and presentations



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Multiple years of experience using healthcare data (claims, coding, and coverage information) to answer questions about drivers, trends, and performance
  • Multiple years of experience applying statistical methods, especially in a health care context
  • Multiple years of programming experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance multiple priorities and projects
  • Work with less structured, more complex issues that may be self-directed



California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington residents is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
