Salary for Announcement

We anticipate the qualified candidate to be placed between $72,200 - $96,350. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Admissions, this position is the functional lead and office expert on recruiting students to the University. The position leads, supervises, and trains the Recruitment team, which includes the High School team, Transfer Services team, College Access team, the Senior International Admissions Counselor, and the Communications and Events team on outreach, recruitment and enrollment activities. The position leads the creation of annual goals and a recruitment plan across all recruitment teams. The position also coordinates a network of cooperative services to ensure a student-centered response to prospective and newly admitted students and to eliminate unnecessary barriers to the admissions process as well as to serve as a resource to academic departments in their recruitment of students. Serves as the point person in the Admissions Office to provide training to, collaborate on, and coordinate the recruitment and outreach activities of faculty and staff across campus. Acquires and maintains necessary resources for operations of the recruitment team and makes appropriate budget requests and determinations. Responsible for developing and continuing relationship building with advisors at local and regional community colleges, counselors at high schools, businesses and community organizations in the Denver metro area and throughout the state. Provides support and guidance to the Associate Director of Admissions for communications and events to create and edit all student recruitment related publications, materials, webpages, letters, texts, emails, etc. and to conduct targeted follow-up communications (email, phone, web, social media, and text) to inquiries, applicants, and accepted student groups, with an emphasis on students from underrepresented groups. Works closely with the Assistant Director of Visits and Events to develop and implement visit options (on-campus and virtual) to assist with the recruitment and yield of students. Represents MSU Denver at recruitment fairs and visits to community colleges, high schools, etc. as necessary. Supports the goal of maintaining Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) status. May be asked to serve in place of Executive Director of Admissions in absence of the Executive Director.

Duties/Responsibilities

40% - Leads, supervises, trains, and coordinates the Recruitment team, which includes the High School access team, Transfer Services team, Senior International Admissions Counselor, and the communications and events team in the recruitment of diverse students to the University and serves as a resource to all enrollment and academic departments on recruitment of students. Develops performance plans and conducts performance evaluations for direct reports and provides regular and relevant professional development and training for associate directors, senior international admissions counselor, and the recruitment teams. Uses extensive and equitable knowledge of the academic, social, and financial supports needed for the success of students, as well as strategic enrollment management to execute all academic and administrative duties, including budget requests, office planning, staff training and program reporting. Creates agenda for and leads monthly office wide admissions and recruitment meetings for updates, goals, team building and professional development. Brings together the recruitment leadership team biweekly for collaboration across teams. Meets consistently with recruitment leaders to support and provide guidance.

30% - Serves as the point person in the Admissions Office to provide training to, collaborate on, and coordinate the recruitment and outreach activities of faculty and staff across campus. Coordinates available university resources, on and off campus, into an effective student recruitment program; assists in planning and coordinating various facets of the recruiting program including on-campus and virtual visitation events and tours. Attends recruitment fairs and visits community colleges, high schools, etc. as necessary. Develops and maintains relationship with advisors at local and regional community colleges, counselors at high schools, businesses, and community organizations in the Denver metro area and throughout the state. Oversees recruitment initiatives that target diverse student populations. Provide backup support and intervention for staffing issues and student/parent escalated concerns.

15% -Collaborates with the Associate Director of Admissions for communications and events to create and edit all student recruitment related publications, materials, webpages, letters, emails, etc. and to conduct targeted follow-up communications (email, phone, web, social media, and text) to inquiries, applicants, and accepted students groups, with an emphasis on students from underrepresented groups. Works closely with Assistant Director of Visits and Events to develop and implement visit options (on-campus and virtual) to assist with the recruitment and yield of students.

10% - Advises the Executive Director of Admissions on the planning and development of tactics, goals and strategies for the recruitment team that support the University's strategic recruitment goals, including theHSImission, and participates on the Executive Director's Leadership Team. Utilizes statistical data analysis and strategic enrollment management principles to lead the development of an annual recruitment plan to meet enrollment goals.Upholds and interprets the standards of ethical practice in college admissions to assist with broad recruitment activities in the high school, transfer, and adult markets. May be asked to serve in place of the Executive Director of Admissions in the absence of the Executive Director.

5% - Other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Minimum of five years of experience in admissions or recruitment in a higher education setting
  • Minimum of three years of experience supervising professional staff.
  • Knowledge of research based best practices in the recruitment of a diverse student body and demonstrated experience working with diverse populations.
  • Experience with and knowledge of strategic enrollment management for use in data analysis for planning enrollment initiatives.
  • Experience with office budget management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, a student information system, and aCRMsystem.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in admissions or recruitment in a higher education setting
  • Minimum of five years of experience supervising professional staff.
  • Experience with Banner and SlateCRMsystem.
  • Experience overseeing recruitment of diverse student populations.

Work Hours

  • M-F 8-5, some evening and weekend required.
  • Hybrid work schedule is an option.
