Job Summary

The Space Systems Architecture Engineer (Senior Engineering Specialist) performs architecture-level assessment, modeling, analysis, and conceptual design activities as a member of the Space Architecture Department (SAD). The Space Architecture Department (SAD) provides unmatched experience in enterprise and system architecture to the U.S. government and numerous public and private agencies involved in the advanced application of space technology. We approach our customer missions from a holistic perspective that encompasses program strategy, capability development, and transformation. Our designs and analyses promote the appropriate balance between budget, policy, and physical constraints with the complimentary system-of-systems solutions architecture. Our solutions meet user timeline demands, challenging budget constraints, and security challenges. We ensure the solutions we co-create with our customers will stand the test of time and the challenges of both preferred and probable futures.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Facilitate multi-stakeholder workshops and technical exchanges between government leadership, management, and technical teams to achieve alignment in strategic vision, capability management, mission organization design, and solution architecture for national space programs.
  • Develop strategic roadmaps and change management plans to support enterprise process and architecture advancement adoption.
  • Conduct strategic level projects and assessments across the DoD, IC, and Civil Space domains to inform senior-level architecture and acquisition decisions.
  • Conduct strategic level projects and assessments, leveraging expertise in technological advancements, mission and capability requirements, systems architectures, and major acquisition processes, to improve executive decision making
  • Develop, leverage, and/or integrate analytical methods and tools to evaluate program and mission strategic concepts to influence solution conceptual designs for cost, schedule, performance, risk, opportunity, and resilience.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for Senior Project Leaders:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a supporting technical science or engineering discipline
  • Must have a minimum of 12 years of experience in space, intelligence, and/or defense domains
  • Ability to develop project plans, identify high-impact deliverables, and lead cross-functional, cross-organizational teams to execute studies and assessments
  • Exceptional time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and project teams
  • Have experience with systems engineering, strategy development, business model development and/or project planning
  • Have experience developing and presenting strategic decision-making and strategic communications artifacts for senior-level management and technical architecture design artifacts for engineering-level reviews
  • Be available and willing to travel locally and domestically approx. 5-10%
  • A current and active U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI security clearance

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • A completed or active in-progress pursuit of an advanced degree or graduate certificate in a supporting business discipline such as enterprise architecture, business transformation, change management, entrepreneurship, or product lifecycle management
  • An advanced degree in Systems Engineering or a related field.
  • Training or significant experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Business Architecting, and/or SAFe Agile methods, techniques, and processes
  • Experience in operations capability management, contingency operations planning and operations needs management
  • Experience planning, leading and facilitating multi-stakeholder change management events
  • Experience, training and/or certification in strategic foresighting practices
