Position Summary

This is a full-time, tenure track, 175-day (10-month annual contract) faculty position in the department of industrial technology starting August 2024, pending board approval.

The faculty member will provide instruction in automotive body repair and painting and other related automotive subjects. The instructor will also be responsible for schedule coordination with other full-time and part-time automotive instructors and directing and working with part-time instructors.

In addition to teaching and keeping regular office hours, other duties during a 37-hour workweek include departmental and committee assignments, curriculum development, assisting with facility and equipment maintenance and coordinating the auto body program with other programs in the industrial technology department, promotion of the auto body program, articulation of the program with high school and university programs, and other instructional responsibilities as may be required. The assignment may include teaching at off-campus centers and will include evening classes.

Essential Functions and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated currency in the instruction of auto body
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and use course materials and incorporate current technology
  • Demonstrated ability to use multi-media technology in classroom instruction
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and present lecture and lesson materials and concepts and to assess student achievement
  • Demonstrated ability to design, review, and evaluate curriculum and make recommendations to maintain program currency for both vocational and transfer students
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and assist students having a broad range of skills, motivation, and academic or vocational goals
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and use learning outcomes and assessment that lead to course and program improvements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of course design, evaluation, and assessment methods which enhance student learning
  • Knowledge of interrelationship of critical thinking, reading, and writing and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to instruction
  • Evidence of a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and to staff and students with disabilities

Minimum Qualifications

Requires an associate degree from an accredited institution, six years occupational experience, and a valid teaching credential or a course which includes teaching theories, curriculum, and administration; or a bachelor's degree and two years of recent work experience in auto body; or the equivalent.

A bachelor's and/or master's degree is preferred.

The hiring salary range is $61,634 to $84,806 dependent upon education and experience.
