TEMPORARY LABORER - HOPE CEMETERY/PARKS
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS & PARKS
CITY OF WORCESTER

The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for Temporary Laborers for the Parks Division within the Department of Public Works and Parks. Under the direction of the Director of Maintenance, Seasonal Maintenance Workers will maintain Hope Cemetery and City parks by performing routine manual maintenance operations including, but not limited to; green space maintenance, event operations, facility maintenance and other work as assigned.

Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:



  • Perform general landscaping duties and assist with special events
  • Removal of trash and rubbish from assigned areas
  • Operate small machinery , such as, leaf blowers, weed trimmers, and lawn mowers
  • Perform manual labor with hand tools


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Ability to interact with patrons and the general public in a proper and professional manner
  • Ability to work in accordance with City of Worcester standard park/cemetery maintenance practices & procedures
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to accept supervision/guidance
  • Ability to work thirty-five (35) hours per week and work holidays and weekends


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



  • 18 years of age or older
  • Valid Driver's License


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Certified American Red Cross First-Aid & CPR/AED


SALARY: $15.50 hourly, seasonal, non-benefitted.
