Position Descriptions:  
A Sign-On Bonus of $10,000 is available for the successful applicant to be paid in the first month on university payroll. This EHRA Sign-On Bonus (including eligibility criteria) is subject to pertinent university and UNC system policies.

 


This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

Under the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Career Development, the Director of Employer Engagement serves as a primary member of the University Career Services leadership team. The Director serves as a university-wide expert on employer engagement & recruiting and leads the strategic growth of employer relationships. These efforts should increase employment opportunities for all students and alumni, advance UNC’s elite brand, and diversify the employment sectors engaging the UNC-CH campus. This role will craft and execute a robust vision for employer development, act as a connector across the university to facilitate relationships, grow support for key initiatives and partnerships, and drive results.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:  

* Supervisory experience of professional staff
* Demonstrated evidence of an analytical mindset, strategic thinking, and high-level problem-solving skills.
* Demonstrated leadership in building relationships and networks.
* Knowledge of and experience with program assessment.
* Demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice and integrity.
* Ability to collaborate and foster a spirit of engagement.
* Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
* Experience working with diverse undergraduate and graduate/professional student, faculty, and staff communities such that exist at Carolina, which reflect an array of ethnic, racial, cultural, faith, gender, and other identities.
* Ability to utilize technology in the delivery of student programs.
* Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with campus leaders, faculty, staff, and students across a variety of units and divisions.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Education Requirements:  

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities associated with the delivery and/or management of student support functions, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and at least 1 year of relevant experience in substitution.

Qualifications and Experience:  

* Master’s degree in Business, Higher Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.
* A minimum of ten (10) years of job-related experience in college recruiting, university relations, university career services, corporate recruiting, talent development, or training & development.
* A minimum of five (5) years of experience supervising medium to large teams of professional staff within a matrixed organization.
* Experience leading change and innovation, resulting in a high level of performance outcomes.
* Expertise and understanding of emerging trends and innovations within the field of higher education, recruitment, and employment.
* Demonstrated experience in generating revenue opportunities through external partnerships with corporations and donors.
* Working knowledge of employment recruiting functions from the university or employer perspective.
* Budget management skills.
* Working knowledge of online recruiting systems (e.g., Handshake, Symplicity, etc.).
* Working knowledge of fundraising/relationship management systems (e.g., Salesforce, Blackbaud, etc.).
* Valid NC Driver’s License or eligibility to hold a valid NC Driver’s License.
