The Department of Biology in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate.

About the Opportunity

This position will conduct research as part of an NSF-funded project centered around quantifying the impacts of the North American 'megadrought' on carbon-water cycling. The postdoc will contribute to this effort by synthesizing data from large soil moisture and flux tower networks, tree-ring chronologies, remote sensing products, and model output. We invite applications from candidates with strong analytical skills, proficiency in managing large datasets, and a background in environmental science, ecology, or related disciplines.

What You'll Do



  • Conduct data analysis, harmonization, and synthesis.
  • Write manuscripts.
  • Present research at conferences/workshops and participate in outreach activities.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in environmental sciences/informatics, geosciences, hydrology, ecology, or a similar field is required for qualify for this position.
  • Experience working with data from eddy covariance towers, tree-rings, and/or remote sensing
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Skills in large dataset analysis, especially spatial data
  • Demonstrated training and/or publication in the fields of eco-physiology, ecosystem ecology, and/or hydrology.
