Position Summary:

Under the direction of Deputy General Counsel and VP, Compliance supports the work of the Office of General Counsel (OGC) in the preparation, drafting, execution, and management of CPB’s grant agreements and other contracts for the production and acquisition of public television and radio programs and other services with an emphasis on FEMA subgrants and agreements. Supports the processing of agreements through CPB’s Grants Management System and assists in the coordination and management of workflow in OGC. Works on special projects as necessary.

Compensation:

The salary for this position will be no less than $71,000 and within a hiring salary range up to $95,000. Exact salary based upon experience, education related to the role, CPB compensation structure and internal equity. Annual salary increases and bonus award based on performance against annual objectives and position responsibilities.

Work Location and Hybrid Work Environment:

CPB is conveniently located in downtown NW DC at 401 Ninth St. NW, Washington, DC, amidst easy access to all Metro lines and ample garage parking. We are a largely local workforce and value employee flexibility, when possible. This is a hybrid work position; with in-person workdays at CPB’s office, along with teleworking, as approved by the position’s Department Head.

Specific Duties:

  • Prepares agreements for attorney review in consultation with CPB Project Managers and other department personnel.
  • Supports Project Managers in grant deliverable review and amendment drafting.
  • Assures compliance with statutes, regulations, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Assists in preparing documentation, including policy updates, process reviews, training, and guidance related to grantmaking.
  • Conducts research with data from a variety of sources and consolidates findings into concise, relevant reports.
  • Prepares, reviews, and maintains accurate workflow records for OGC including automated/electronic systems.
  • Works on project teams to improve OGC processes and move complex projects to completion.
  • Organizes files and materials so that they are easily accessed and retrieved without compromising the confidentiality or privacy of the information they contain.
  • Provides administrative support to include scheduling and setting up meetings, copy editing, printing, copying, scanning, filing, and managing status reports.
  • Serves as a point of contact for the OGC to ensure timely response to communication requests.
  • Provides backup support to grants management staff as needed and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Paralegal Certificate.
  • Minimum of four years of relevant work experience.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Excellent proficiency in understanding legal concepts, drafting contracts, and conducting legal research.
  • Ability to take ownership of complex projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organization and time management skills, analytical ability, proficiency in business writing and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work directly with internal clients to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Experienced in utilizing MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams) as well as Adobe Acrobat, and Google Drive/Docs/Sheets.
