Department Information

Institute Communications serves as the voice of Georgia Tech, responsible for creating and sharing the universitys narrative and brand identity. Its mission includes informing audiences about Georgia Techs story, advancing the institutions reputation across various platforms, and maintaining consistent messaging and visual representation. The team includes strategists, writers, designers, videographers, photographers, web developers, event specialists, and marketers, working cross-functionally to achieve these objectives.

Job Summary

Responsible for internal strategic communications and managing areas of organizational communications for the Office of the President as a whole, and directly for the President, Provost, and faculty community. Responsible for platform and processes that support all organizational communications projects in Institute Communications and guide strategy of Institute-level communications strategies, tactics, goals, and objectives including leadership communication for internal and external audiences and supporting materials and content. Oversee a team of writers/editors and communications experts. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance, and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.

This position will interact on a regular basis with: President, Chief of Staff, Provost, Institute leadership, faculty, and staff

This position typically will advise and counsel: President, President Office staff, Provost, Institute leadership, and faculty communications team

This position will supervise: Assigned Staff

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Provide communications guidance and advise the Office of the President and executive leadership, including creating communications strategies, web strategies, speeches, presentations, blogs, quotes, e-newsletters, news releases, quotes, and leader messages. Provide other communication resources for leaders and communicators throughout campus.

Job Duty 2 -
Provide communications and marketing support for various programs and initiatives of the Office of the Provost. Collaborate with other communicators within the organization; enhance faculty connection to the Georgia Tech community and comprehension of the Georgia Tech strategy and major student-focused initiatives.

Job Duty 3 -
Collaborate on the development and implementation of leadership communications strategies and initiatives. Serve as the lead on major communications strategies to address key priorities at Georgia Tech and in higher education.

Job Duty 4 -
Oversee the faculty communications program and provide strategic counsel to faculty-related communications.

Job Duty 5 -
Manage and develop team of writers and communications professionals.

Job Duty 6 -
Collaborate with other communicators on initiatives, crisis management, and a proactive approach to national educational issues and priorities.

Job Duty 7 -
Provide strategic communication counsel and support for Georgia Tech Provost, Executive Leadership Team, Cabinet members, and other campus leaders

Job Duty 8 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Required Qualifications
May require after hours support.

Required Experience
Six to eight years job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
Ten or more years of job-related experience

Proposed Salary

The proposed salary range is $93,863 - $134,000/annually.

ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE
Advanced knowledge of marketing and communication best practices within a higher education sector; strong knowledge of content strategy and website support, project and InDesign familiarity.

SKILLS
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated proficiency with collaboration, strategic planning, customer service, organization, and problem-solving; strong attention to detail
