Position Description

Performs specialized Post Doctoral work in the planning, conducting and/or supervision of original research. Responsible for participating in a research project associated with PhD studies and the interpretation of the results of publication. Work is performed under supervision of graduate faculty members with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants.

About the Department and/or College

The Department of Computer Science offers four degree programs, including Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Master of Science in Computer Science, Master of Science in Software & Security Engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science. As of Fall 2023, the department has 347 undergraduate major students and 731 graduate students, including 660 Masters and 71 PhD students. The College of Engineering was founded in 1925 as one of the original academic areas when Texas Tech opened in 1923. The Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering offers nine engineering bachelor's programs and one master's level program accredited by the EAC of ABET, and one computer science program accredited by CAC of ABET. The college offers 12 additional master's, and 8 doctoral degree programs. The college has 4679 undergraduate and 1550 graduate students and 158 full-time faculty members. Major/Essential Functions

We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join Yong Chen's research group and NSF Cloud and Autonomic Computing Center at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas. This individual will be working on the design and development of high performance computing system architecture and toolchains based on RISC-V architecture. Yong Chen's homepage can be found at: .

Required Qualifications

PhD in area of project specialization. Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions and other outcomes. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to plan and allocate the workload of employees, providing direct training and supervision as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with Ph.D. degree in computer science.
