Production Operator II

As a Production Operator II, you will be responsible for operating a production line safely and efficiently to minimize waste and ensure product quality. You will maintain accurate records, troubleshoot issues, and communicate effectively with team members to ensure a smooth workflow. Your duties include making machinery adjustments, assisting team members, maintaining a clean work area, and following all company standards and procedures.

Responsibilities:



  • Maintain all flour sifters and flour bins in an appropriate manner to ensure that the line is able to run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Clean all rollers and belts as necessary to ensure they are clear of debris and in the correct position. In the event that a belt is not functioning or positioned incorrectly, mechanics should be called using a radio or the overhead PA system.
  • Communicate all issues clearly with line inspectors and mixers to ensure that the products maintain the correct size, weight, and consistency. Make changes as needed to ensure a continuous, efficient, and safe work flow. Break relief is the first contact for operators/mixers for issues that do not impact major waste, excessive downtime, or quality/safety issues. They have a radio to contact maintenance/supervisors if the issue is beyond their knowledge base.
  • Troubleshoot issues before getting maintenance or supervisors involved if it is a minor issue. Communicate the issues to the break relief, mechanics, or supervisors as needed to ensure safe and efficient production runs.
  • Operators are required to use the paging system or their respective break relief to rely information to packing about the line status such as downtimes, major gaps in production, incorrect or misshaped products that have entered the freezer, and line start-up and ending times for each production run.
  • Keeping accurate and neat records of production downtimes, areas impacted by downtimes, and what (if known) caused the downtime. Check all belts thoroughly in timely manner, and record dough weight at the specified time interval ensuring each batch of dough is properly accounted for.
  • Proper communication of issues to coworkers or the proper department(s) (ie. Sanitation, Maintenance, or Quality Assurance) as needed through use of radio's or overhead PA system. All positions are part of a team and must communicate and work together to ensure a safe and efficient work flow.
  • Report any products that may contain foreign materials immediately to the production supervisors so the proper steps can be taken to alleviate or fix the issue, ensuring the safety of every product.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and organized work area. Ensuring all catch pans, floor pans, and waste receptacles are emptied and thrown away in a timely manner.
  • Know, understand, and follow safe operating procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Perform all tasks and duties required to ensure production and efficiency standards are met.
  • Actively participate with the team, through problem solving, planning, and team decision-making with individual accountability.
  • Ensure the proper set-up for the next shift and communicate to them all information relevant to the manufacturing process.
  • Perform training of new Operators and Inspectors, and assist in other training activities which support the manufacturing process.
  • Flexibility in job assignments based on production needs, as designated by a supervisor.
  • Assist team members regardless of position if help is needed to ensure safe and efficient production runs.
  • Ensure all company assets including but not limited to machinery, tools, and the facility; are accounted for and kept in a safe, clean, and well maintained condition.
  • Make all necessary machinery & equipment adjustments and performs all tasks & duties necessary for efficient start-ups, daily operation, change-over and shut-downs.
  • Other duties as required or assigned



Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or GED and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs. consistently.
  • Previous work history in a food manufacturing facility preferred.
  • Ability to read and write in English, and use of basic math and time keeping.
  • Able to make logical decisions.
