What you will be doing

Under broad administrative direction of the Senior Vice President Commercialization Services - MWI Animal Health. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Sales Leader to join our team as we focus on the strategic growth and transformation of our organization. This position will play a crucial role in driving revenue growth through the delivery of innovative products and technology solutions to the veterinary community. The Leader will be responsible for recruiting and developing talent within the sales team and across the animal health industry across Commercialization Services. The role will be responsible for leading, developing, and executing sales strategies to achieve business objectives.

The Sales Leader will be responsible for the growth of the Eastern region of MWI by leveraging sales force technologies, advanced consultative and strategic sales approach, and tactics to grow penetration of MWI products and solutions to existing (and to-be-prospected) strategic and highly integrated, national, and regional customers in the animal health business segment. This role promotes and delivers targeted distribution, technology, and professional services solutions to not only retain/renew existing customers but also to extend customer share of spend in existing customers and to win new strategic account business. The position will be part of the Commercialization Services leadership team involved in C-suite discussions with partners and veterinary customers.

This position is a US based remote role (located in the Eastern Region).

  • Sales Strategy Development:Develop and implement strategic sales plans that align with overall business objectives. Identify market trends, opportunities, and challenges within the veterinary distribution industry to drive revenue growth.
  • Team Leadership:Manage a team of sales managers and sales professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure individual and collective success. Foster a high-performance sales culture focused on achieving targets and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Transformation Initiatives:Drive transformation initiatives within the sales team by leveraging innovative technologies, digital tools, and data analytics to enhance operational efficiency and customer engagement.
  • Business Development:Identify new business opportunities within the veterinary community by building strong relationships with key stakeholders including customers and partners. Collaborate with internal teams to develop tailored solutions that address customer needs.
  • Performance Tracking & Analysis:Establish performance metrics and KPIs to measure individual and team performance. Analyze sales data, market trends, and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans accordingly.
  • Training & Development:Implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the sales team. Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to improve selling techniques, product knowledge, and customer relationship management.
  • Collaboration & Communication:Foster effective cross-functional collaboration with marketing, operations, finance, and other teams to ensure alignment on sales strategies and tactics. Communicate regularly with senior leadership regarding progress updates, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Develops a business plan that represents the opportunity and process by which each strategic account segment will achieve maximum sales and profitability in support of the business strategy.
  • Gathers information, analyzes and develops strategies concerning dynamics that may affect area of responsibility, such as changes in customer ownership, new affiliations, current market share and targets of opportunities for new growth, customers' changing requirements, competitor strengths and weaknesses, and continually communicates these strategies internally using updates to written business plans and ongoing business communication.
  • Monitors and analyzes reports and data which are used consistently through MWI for measuring profitable growth of sales, and develops and implements/shifts strategies and removes barriers to insure continued success of that growth.
  • Works directly with subject matter experts during the sales process to execute expansion and maintenance strategies using company solutions to address customer specific needs identified during the explore phase; subject matter expects include MWI, Cencora Drug Company, subsidiary, corporate and regional associates.
  • Oversees pricing, sales, legal, accounting, reporting and analysis, drawing on other MWI and Cencora resources.
  • Delivers professional presentations to existing strategic customers.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively within selected geographic territory (including overnight travel); travels to events such as conferences, national and regional sales meetings.
What your background should look like
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Proven experience (minimum 7 years) in a sales leadership and/or management role; animal health or pharmaceutical distribution industry preferred.
  • Strong understanding of veterinary market dynamics including product and category trends, regulatory environment, financial data, competitor analysis, etc.
  • Experience driving transformational change within a sales organization through technology adoption or process improvements.
  • Demonstrated success in developing comprehensive sales strategies that resulted in significant revenue growth.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a track record of building high-performing teams. Senior level leadership experience preferred.
  • Recognizes and capitalizes on risk-taking opportunities which have high potential benefits for the company and customer; understands importance of and looks for potential networks and strategic alliances; generates and/or recognizes imaginative solutions, fresh ideas and new areas to explore; brings a unique and flexible viewpoint to the planning and decision-making process.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively to all levels of the organization. Strong executive presence for C-Suite presentations.
  • Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in analyzing sales data using CRM systems or other relevant software.
  • Ability to travel as necessary (approximately 70%).
  • Passion for delivering innovative products/solutions that positively impact the veterinary community.
