Crop Protection Products Lead - Eastern Division

*Can be located anywhere between NC and ME in the Eastern US*

The Crop Protection - Products Lead is responsible for promoting and servicing profitable agricultural chemical products to our branch locations, sales team, growers and wholesale customers. This is an opportunity to replace lower margin products with Helena's preferred higher margin partner's products. This position will serve as the dedicated resource to help accelerate the adoption rate of products by the Helena field sales team.

The employee's primary duty must be the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to the management or general business operations of Helena or Helena's customers. The employee's primary duty must also include the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.

What your day may look like



  • Analyzes market opportunity by location.
  • Coordinates with Division Management to determine specific targeted products to focus on with the sales team.
  • Utilizes Helena's sales history and margin analysis of competitive products and works with that location to target sales growth of these products to benefit Helena, the individual sales team member and the location.
  • Provides technical training for all products from preferred suppliers (i.e. researchers, expert consultants, product managers). This includes new products introduced.
  • Develops understanding for product positioning of these products versus what the branches are selling today.
  • Seeks profit opportunity when displacing what branches are currently using with new products.
  • Provides sales team with technical knowledge in order for them to discuss features, advantages and benefits.
  • Provides financial information to the sales team to be able to present the "why switch" story.
  • Makes contacts with possible wholesale opportunities and our products.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
  • Reliable and regular attendance is expected.



Education and experience needed for this position



  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Five years of sales/marketing experience in the agricultural industry is preferred.



Other skills that will help you succeed:



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Agriculture chemical product knowledge is strongly preferred.
  • Sales and motivational skills.
  • Working knowledge of retail ag-supply business including crop input recommendations to grower is preferred.
  • Experience in various customer application methods is preferred.
  • Knowledge of full-service retail fertilizer and/or chemical business general operation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of agricultural crop input and services is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to make public presentations.
  • Good driving record and valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to travel up to 50 percent via car and/or plane is required.



Your work environment and the physical aspects of the job

The work environment for this position may require the employee to work in an outdoor setting in all types of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements. When working outdoors and possibly around moving equipment/mechanical parts, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
