Overview

SRI's Biosciences Division develops transformative approaches and platforms for challenging therapeutic problems. We conduct basic and translational research, have the breadth - and depth - to deliver the latest in biomedical research through technology development. Our researchers have a rich legacy of collaboration with government agencies and industry partners that improve health outcomes and well-being around the world. SRI Biosciences projects range from high-impact, early-stage research to drug co-development with pharmaceutical and biotech companies.

The Center for Health Sciences is looking for a summer intern to work on various projects in the lab. The work will involve several NIH-funded projects, each involving human participants who will be screened for study eligibility and escorted between on-campus testing sites. The intern will also score and enter study data into the lab computer databases. If you're looking to get experience in a lab conducting cutting-edge research, apply here. Interns working on projects in the lab will get experience with clinical interviews, neuropsychological and cognitive testing, and multi-modal MRI scans.

The intern position will work on-site in the Menlo Park, CA office. Candidates must be available to work during the 5-day work week between the hours of 9am and 5pm. Schedule is flexible, but the expectation is to work 20-30 hours per week.



Responsibilities

    Interact with research study participants including greeting, escorting, obtaining lunches.
  • Perform telephone screens to determine eligibility of potential participants
  • Score test results and enter data into laboratory databases
  • Clean and correct problematic data
  • Learn MRI safety and assist in acquisition of MRI data


Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate student majoring in biology, chemistry, neuroscience or a related field
  • Interest in human neuroscience, neuropsychology, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
  • Energetic personality with deference to research leaders and respect for research protocol.
  • Experience with research projects is an advantage.
  • Quick learner who pays attention to detail and has good organization skills.

The salary range is: $16.70-$21.00/hr. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
