SUPERVISOR:

Purchasing Director

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Vendor outreach and solicitation activities, which can include, but not limited to, W9 management, entering vendor contact information, seeking SBE firms, attending vendor fairs, etc.
  • Record keeping and scanning of Purchase Orders, vendor contracts, and insurance certificates.
  • Collect data, which can include, but not limited to, invoices, order history, etc) to be used in RFP solicitations.
  • Create and update commonly used forms (ie pre-bid and bid opening sign in sheets, bid advertisements, etc).
  • Conduct informal competitive bidding activities (RFQ’s) for a wide variety of supplies, materials, equipment, and services for lower valued procurements. These procedures include, but is not limited to, consolidating the needs of user departments, developing and reviewing specifications, researching sources of supply, issuing solicitation documents, reviewing bid results for accuracy, and helping to prepare Board packages with required supporting documentation.
  • Conduct the same for RFP solicitations for higher cost materials and equipment purchases.
  • Communicate with and support internal departments and vendors on procurement-related matters.
  • Assist with fixed assets records and surplus auctions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Procurement team.

 

WHAT WE NEED:

We are seeking an experienced public procurement professional who is highly-organized, motivated, with exceptional writing and verbal communication skills. Must be adept at problem-solving and data analysis to support the team’s procurement and contracting activities.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

● Bachelor’s degree in related field required.

● Three or more years of governmental procurement experience required.

● Ability to research products, assess item specifications and perform comparisons.

● Requires a high level of analytical, computational, and written communication skills.

● Ability to independently set priorities.

● Knowledge of and ability to read and comprehend state statutes and regulations.

● Ability to work with minimal supervision.

● High proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Office 365.

● Must possess the ability to perform high volume, multi-task duties in an accurate and timely manner.

● Courteous and positive attitude in dealing with the public and co-workers.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

●Ability to perform cost and data analyses and assess contract compliance.

●Construction and building renovation experience.

●Purchasing Certification (CPPB certification preferred).

 

SALARY DETAILS:

Annual salary of $65,000 - $75,000, dependent on qualifications, education, and experience. 

Full time, exempt position.

The Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority, located at Huntington Place Convention Center in Detroit, Michigan, is a municipal public body corporate and politic and a metropolitan authority established by the State of Michigan and leased the facility from the City of Detroit to own and operate for 33 years.  The five-member Authority Board consists of one representative from each of five government agencies – the State of Michigan, City of Detroit, and the three metro-Detroit counties of Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb. 

Huntington Place is the 16th largest convention center in the United States. Built by the City of Detroit, it was originally opened in 1960 and named Cobo Hall in honor of former Detroit Mayor Albert E. Cobo (1950-1957). In 2019, the DRCFA awarded venue naming rights to TCF Bank, and in 2021 TCF Bank merged with Huntington Bank. Today, Huntington Place hosts conferences, conventions and tradeshows bringing 1.5 million visitors a year from across the globe to Detroit.
