Department Marketing Statement

The Department of Mathematics in the College of Sciences at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) invites applications for one (1) position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction starting in Fall 2024.

Anticipated contract length of 1 to 3 years and will be reviewed at the end of the first academic year for renewal, based on performance.

Posting End Date: This position will remain open until filled. At the discretion of the hiring department, this position posting may close once a sufficient number of qualified applications have been received.

Salary Range: Up to $62,202/ 9-month academic rate.

Hours: up to 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions

Core Responsibilities
  1. The responsibilities of this position include teaching twelve credit hours each semester at the level of Calculus II and below, plus curriculum development and coordination with other instructors.
  2. This position is expected to teach core curriculum mathematics courses ranging from College Algebra through Calculus II.
  3. Opportunities to conduct research in elementary mathematics education may be included.

Required Qualifications
  • A terminal degree in mathematics education or closely related field.
  • Experience teaching elementary mathematics content courses or a record of research in elementary mathematics education.

  • Anticipated hire is for Fall 2024

Working Conditions

This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
