General Information:

The University Health Center provides a comprehensive array of health care services and health education programs to JMU students. Included in our health care services are several medical clinics, a pharmacy, a medical laboratory, and other programs that provide services for more than 30,000 patient encounters a year. UHC practices evidence-based medicine in a confidential, inclusive environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinates patient care for the James Madison University Health Center's acute care and urgent care facilities with 8-10 care providers and ancillary services. Nursing Supervisor for the Health Center's Health Information Department. Collaborates with other JMU faculty and staff to provide holistic health promotion, prevention, peer engagement and overall advancement of community wellbeing. Interfaces with JMU students, staff, and parents clinically as needed. Practices as a Registered Nurse in compliance with Health Center policies and procedures/nurse protocols, University guidelines, ANA guidelines, and the American College Health Standards of Nursing practice. Serve as first line of communication with students, faculty and parents for medical/wellness related issues that impacts the quality and effectiveness of patient care. Direct supervisor for Health Information Department which is a significant Health Center service for students. Coordinates care with both JMU and community providers for students. Develop, implement and evaluate outreach initiatives in collaboration with JMU's Health Promotion Department. Utilizes the Nursing Process, to include assessment, formulation of a nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide quality nursing care to eligible JMU students. Utilize the Triage system based upon random, appreciative, and critical thinking as a keystone of decision making to expeditiously channel each student to the appropriate health care source.

Qualifications:

-Current Virginia RN license
-CPR/AED Certified
-Proficient computer abilities and experience in Medicat EMR
-Knowledgeable in the college healthcare setting
